Debra Killings Biography

Debra Killings is one of the most admired and gifted vocalists in the music industry. Her singing has been featured on releases by OutKast, TLC, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Toni Braxton, Monica, Da Brat, and many other artists' recordings. Her musical skills and flexibility to work on diverse recording projects has also made her one of the music industry's most in-demand musicians. Musician? Yes, in addition to lending her vocal talents to many hit records, Debra is also an extraordinary bass player, and shows this on recordings by Jay-Z, Nelly, OutKast, TLC and also on her own CD release, Surrender (Verity Records). Debra also works with super-producer Dallas Austin, and is an essential part of his production sound and production company - D.A.R.P (Dallas Austin Recording Projects).

In addition to being a seasoned studio vocalist and musician, Debra is also a songwriter, with credits on recordings by Pebbles, Paula Abdul, Corey, Sammie, and Monica. She also co-wrote the song "Take Our Time" that appears on the #1 selling album CrazySexyCool by TLC.

I was 19 when I first heard that, and got straight chills. I played the song on repeat probably 20 times. Then went to find out who the vocalist was. Debra Killings has the most appropriate name.

Debra Killings most certainly did most of TLC background vocals, but she didn’t sing “lead” with her vocal laced over Tboz and Chilli’s vocals on ANY of their “lead parts” on verses. That’s like the biggest vocal insult (especially on T-boz) and so untrue lol. Backgrounds vocals on choruses? Yes. But you’re basically stating that Tboz was incapable of singing her “lead verses” without Debra on songs like Creep, Waterfalls & 75% of their most iconic T-boz-lead singles which is probably the most ridiculous thing that I’ve ever heard.

The crazy thing is in the early 90s, it was NOT a secret in the ATL music scene/talent circuit who she was and that she sang all those backing and floater vocals (especially for Chilli).

Back in the day, I saw Chilli in the mall at Northlake. Her and Tron can in the Athlete's Foot. I asked her how it was working with Debra... She wasn't happy... "I sing all my own parts sir"... I laughed cause I had already talked to David Gates who confirmed that Debra played a significant roll in the recordings.

Like creep is honestly just T and Debra. Dear Lie is just T & Debra. And I say she was on more hits than they were is because all 3 of them didn't record every song together but Debra was on all of their hits singing background

@n o r e n t. Lol.... Look im one the biggest TLC fans. I have every single album and majority of their singles. I went to their tour with Nelly and flo rida this past July. Downloaded their Christmas single "Gift Wrapped Kiss" 4 years ago, saw them on tour with Boyz II Men and Montell Jordan in 95. Bought soundtracks they were on, bought Left Eyes album "Supernova", recorded the episode of Living Single when they were on there, recorded the episode of the Parkers when Chilli was on their, watch House Party 3 every time it comes on just to see them, play their music every single day. Bought 3 of their latest album " TLC " when it was released on June 30th 2017. I bought 3D they day it came out on November 12, 2002. Don't do that, boo.
