Beginning as a solo project for singer, frontman, and devilish ringmaster Danny Rendo; Deconbrio has evolved into a superstar project that crosses over all media fronts β acquiring talents from all of Knoxvilleβs creative scenes. The lineup currently consists of Rendoβs now wife all around βdiva divineβ Ashley Fantastic; local comic, podcast personality, and on-again-off-again anti-hero Wolfegang Grey (aka Sam Donnelly); everyoneβs favorite local βboylesqueβ personality and goth DJ Peppy Schlongstocking/Dappr-K (aka Kevin Humler); and potentially immortal elf and stealer of hearts Christina Kanoa.
Deconbrio has shared the stage with many national acts; and received much acclaim in the local scene over their short time here; they were included on several βBest Ofβ lists, and winning the first Knoxville Competitive Music Video Awards. Last year, Deconbrio released its 5th studio endeavor; a re-imagining of their debut album βObsessions of a False Idolβ.

The song "Masquerade" by Deconbrio speaks about the struggles of self-identity and how people tend to hide behind a facade to protect themselves from being vulnerable. The song starts with the lyrics "Slip into your new skin, obsessing your disguise, afraid of your scars," which speaks about people's tendency to hide behind a new persona and a new identity as a form of protection. People tend to cover up their scars from their past and try to create a new identity hoping that it will make them more acceptable to society. They tend to get lost in their new self and forget who they truly are.
However, the song eventually reveals that this new identity is just a mask, a facade to hide their true selves, and society encourages this behavior as well. The singer urges the listener to wake up and realize that they have been lied to and that this is a masquerade; a charade to hide our true selves. The chorus emphasizes this point by repeating the lyrics "Wake up, you have been lied to, this is a masquerade."
The bridge of the song speaks about the singer's desire for vulnerability and honesty. They wish they could be a child's tear, which is pure and honest, instead of hiding behind the facade that is expected of them. Ultimately, the singer realizes that they have nothing left to fight for and must disappear to escape from the expectations of society and their own self-imposed expectations.
