Step By Step
Dee Kiki Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And you wonder what you're doing
And you really want to get somewhere
And you're thinking nothing's going to get you there
It's important to remember that you're free to go anywhere
Take your chances and let the change take you there
Sometimes it takes one step at a time
When that straight line makes you blind
And sometimes it takes a one step
It's not easy never easy
When you know you're gonna have to change
Your direction find yourself another way
Just remember what you're leaving
It is something that you had to go through
Don't be sorry there's something better waiting for you
Sometimes it takes one step at a time
When that straight line makes you blind
And sometimes it takes a one step
It takes one step at a time
When that straight line makes you blind
And sometimes it takes a one step
Well it takes one step at a time
When that straight line makes you blind
And sometimes it takes a one step

And sometimes it takes a one step
And sometimes it takes a one step

The authentic Wonder Woman of music ! One can certainly think that she deserves a splendid crown 👑 on her head. Actually she has that invisible crown that has kept her away from the excesses of rich and famous lifestyle. Love you Kiki 👑💖🎶🎶🌟

What a fab, cheerful, mellow Rock track.

I love her.

she could sing. she needed better material and management. but the talent was always there.

The Hooley's

I disagree, the songs are always very good, perhaps she was not promoted enough, maybe she was happy not to get too big!

I can`t believe it, that the "studio version" of this song is nowhere to be found on YouTube. It was a moderately successful hit for Kiki Dee in America. back in the Spring of 1975. If anyone who sees this "comment" has a copy of that version, let me encourage you to post it. ~ I never knew she was already about 28 years old when she had a hit with this song; she has always looked good for her age. ~ She reminds me of the current singer Jessie J., both in singing style and physical appearance.

So true what you say...

There was another version of this song, by Dutch band Promises. They had a big hit here in Australia with "Baby It's You", and their version of "Step By Step" was used here in an ice cream commercial. I remember hearing it and thinking "That's not Kiki Dee..."

I'd ingested some funny piece of paper in late 74 or early 1975 and caught her on something like Midnight Special, & seeing this makes me glad to know that it wasn't that blotter acid. BTW, SGTBlair, the LP version of this was more up-tempo & harder edged
