Breakfast at Tiffany's
Deep Blue Something Lyrics
You'll say we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
I see you, the only one who knew me
But now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
You'll say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
Ooh, and I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a song by American rock band Deep Blue Something, released in 1995 on their album Home. Desperate to find common ground, the singer can only think of a vague memory that they both like the film Breakfast at Tiffany's, and argues that the tenuous link between the lovers should serve as enough motivation for them to work out their problems and stay together as a couple.
The film Roman Holiday inspired the lyrics of the song but the author, Todd David Pipes, thought that one of Hepburn's other films would make a better song title.
The music video also sports some visual reference to the title itself as it features the band members arriving to a breakfast table and being served by butlers, beside the curb in front of Tiffany's in New York City.
In 1996, the song reached number five in the United States and number one in the United Kingdom.
The song is believed by many to be the only hit by Deep Blue Something and making many dismiss the band as a one-hit wonder.
The Movie
Breakfast at Tiffany's is a 1961 American film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, and featuring Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney. It was directed by Blake Edwards. The portrayal of Holly Golightly as the naive, eccentric socialite is generally considered to be Audrey Hepburn's most memorable and identifiable role. She herself regarded it as one of her most challenging roles to play, as she was an introvert who had to play an extrovert. Hepburn's singing of "Moon River" helped garner an Oscar for Best Song for composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer. The film also featured what was arguably George Peppard's greatest acting role and the high point of his career. The film is loosely based on the novella of the same name by Truman Capote.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s lyrics:
[Verse 1]
You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
[Chorus]
And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember that film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said "Well, that's one thing we've got."
[Verse 2]
I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
[Chorus]
And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember that film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it."
And I said "Well, that's one thing we've got."

This is what's called a flash of genius. Yes, otherwise they were just another band, but at one point in their lives they put together a piece of music that still gets a cheer in almost any pub in the world, and will continue to do so for many years to come. A one hit wonder is too patronizing, so I prefer to call it a flash of genius

I call that a one hit wonder

Yes, one hit wonders are reserved for those who are kinda bad. This, indeed, was a flash of genius.

A song that's still remembered in 2022. Any time this song comes on it lifts my mood.
Bottle Rocket
For the people who have never really paid attention to the lyrics before, this song is about a guy declaring that there's hope for he and his girlfriend's relationship because they both like the same movie.
Remembering Lives
Thank you I agree! He was my friend,

@David MacNeil Much like the romance in the film it's built on very unsupported ground.
