In 1996, Breakfast at Tiffany's, which referenced the classic Audrey Hepburn film of the same name, reached the top five in the U.S. and number one in the United Kingdom.
There was conjecture that the band took so much time off between Home and Deep Blue Something in order to fight US centered copyright issues related to their initial album, 11th Song, which they believed to be of lower quality than their name deserved. The 7 year hiatus between albums is believed to be partially responsible for their failure to succeed in the US with their self-titled release.
The band returned in 2015 to release new music for the first time since 2001. This EP was titled Locust House.
John Kirtland is now running a successful independent record label called Kirtland Records. Based out of Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California, Kirtland's shrewd business dealings led to his ownership of the back-catalog of superstar band, Bush and royalty rights on the sales of certain albums by No Doubt. After selling off his rights to the No Doubt material, Bush remains on the Kirtland label along with successful indies like Bril and the Burden Brothers.
Pullman Washington
Deep Blue Something Lyrics

Whisper to me if it snowed
We'll plot to murder each other
And I'll be your alibi.
Bind me with wire
Tell me your favorite vice
And I'll discuss my childhood
[Chorus:]
I like rain,
The innocence in praying
The faded faintly childhood
Smell of plastic
When it's set to burn,
Angel dust, the two of us,
Fresh-faced reminders
Of lessons that we'll
Never learn.
I see you're sleeping
You always can cry if it helps
My soul is by the telephone
If you're needing sympathy.
And the rain won't wash away
All that you hold to be true
It remains somehow indifferent
Regarding the weatherman.
[Chorus]
The lyrics to Deep Blue Something's song "Pullman Washington" seem to describe a relationship that is intense and possibly tumultuous. The first verse starts with the singer crawling to the window and asking if it has snowed outside. This could be a metaphor for their emotional state - they may be feeling "cold" or detached. The lines "We'll plot to murder each other, And I'll be your alibi" suggest a sense of humor about their relationship, but also a level of vulnerability. They may be admitting that they are capable of hurting each other, but are still willing to protect and support each other.
The second verse is even more cryptic, with references to being bound with wire and discussing favorite vices. The line "If you need a sedative" implies that they are both dealing with some kind of emotional pain or anxiety, and may be using drugs to cope. The chorus provides some insight into their outlook on life - they find beauty in rain and childhood memories, but also feel a sense of frustration at the fact that they never seem to learn from their experiences.
The final verse suggests that one of the partners is sleeping and possibly crying. The singer offers sympathy and reassurance in the form of their "soul by the telephone." The line "And the rain won't wash away all that you hold to be true" is particularly poignant, as it seems to suggest that even in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty, there are some things that remain constant and meaningful.
Overall, "Pullman Washington" is a song that touches on themes of love, pain, and resilience. It portrays a complex relationship that is both loving and fraught with tension, and suggests that even in the midst of difficult times, there is still beauty and hope to be found.
