Hey Oli, I had a question for you!
Recently I was thinking of my own journey through music and how my perspective has changed (and is still changing) on what it means to "like" an album. I've noticed that in the past, when I was less open-minded, whenever I dismissed an album outright, there was a certain mistrust of the artist at the back of my mind. Call it paranoia, but there was a little voice in my head that kept me from "giving in" to really exploring the album on my own. The voice was telling me that the album lacked integrity, or that the artist was covering up/hiding a lack of talent and that the album is a hack. The more "experimental" sounding the album was, the stronger this voice was!
If I gave those albums enough chances, there was a point where I crossed this trust barrier, and suddenly, everything that the artist has produced seemed to have changed meaning in my head. If I'd thought that the artist was "overrated" or a "hack" previously, I'd see the complete opposite! It was as if I'd flicked a switch in my brain and flipped every conclusion I'd made on its head and I started enjoying that artist much more!

How do you explain this phenomenon? Have you experienced something similar? Is there a word for this?

As always, great content, thank you for the hard work and effort you put in to each of your videos, I love your honest passion!
