Their second single Give It Away reached no.9 in the UK chart in early 2004 and no.2 in the airplay chart. With their third single Is it a Sin?, Deepest Blue, now sampling a different style of music in comparison to their first two singles, managed to reach the top 30 in May 2004. Their debut album Late September peaked at #22 in the UK National charts.
However their fourth single Shooting Star, released in August 2004, only entered the charts in no.57 and stayed in the chart for only 1 week. It is their first single to date that hasn't entered the UK top 40.
[edit] Solo Projects
In 2005, the group decided to split in order to pursue solo projects. Their first album, Late September, went on to sell 70,000 copies in the UK and another 230,000 copies worldwide.

The album never came out as half way through the release schedule the MD and AnR that signed Joel and the marketing team that where working on the release where replaced overnight[citation needed]. The album lost all momentum and finally Joel asked to be dropped.
Their song, Shooting Star, was used as the backing music for Sky Sports News between 2004 and 2007.

A smile from the past
That tattooed the moments we had
Like a treasured possession
A gift from the gods
Everything is falling apart
You're just not there any more
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without a trace
And you shot so far that your mind began to race
What's the point in color when you're gray?
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without the rain
I know that you're leaving
And nothing stays the same
Broken heart adventures mislaid
Numbed all my feelings
Take away the pain
The hour hand is stealing you away
You just don't care anymore
You're just not there any more
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without a trace
And you shot so far that your mind began to race
What's the point in color when you're gray?
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without the rain
You just don't care anymore
You're just not there any more
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without a trace
And you shot so far that your mind began to race
What's the point in color when you're gray?
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without the rain
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without a trace
And you shot so far that your mind began to race
What's the point in color when you're gray?
'cause you're a shooting star that fell without the rain
The lyrics of "Shooting Star" by Deepest Blue depict the aftermath of a relationship that has ended, and the painful realization that everything that was once cherished and colorful has turned gray and insignificant. The first stanza describes the memory of a happy moment that has been captured in a black and white picture, but now that everything is falling apart, it feels like a treasured possession that is fading away. The chorus reveals how the person who was once the center of the singer's world has become distant, like a shooting star that fell without a trace, leaving behind a mind that races with questions and doubts. The metaphor of a shooting star that lost its light and color emphasizes the suddenness and unpredictability of the breakup, and how it has left a deep sense of loss and confusion behind.
The second stanza emphasizes the pain of the breakup and the difficulty of accepting that nothing stays the same. The singer feels numb and unable to deal with the heartache, but also recognizes that time is slipping away and the person they love is slipping away. The repetition of "You just don't care anymore, You're just not there any more" emphasizes the distance between the two people and the sense of abandonment that the singer feels. The chorus is repeated twice, emphasizing the theme of loss and despair, and painting a poignant picture of a relationship that has ended without warning or explanation.
Overall, "Shooting Star" is a heartrending depiction of the aftermath of a breakup, and how it can leave a deep sense of loss and confusion behind. The lyrics are poignant and deeply emotional, and the use of metaphors and imagery adds an extra layer of depth to the song. The chorus is particularly powerful, emphasizing the suddenness and unpredictability of the breakup, and how it can leave a person feeling lost and alone.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks of that. I don’t know why they got rid of it tbh, was a great track. But this gives me feelings. Like for a brief moment, I’m transported back to that time. Whoever you support, I hope you have a good season 💙🤍.
