Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.
However, I’m not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonex’s noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.
The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, “D.D.” and “Oh Yeah” (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (“Ain’t Got Nothing” and the radio hit, “Sinner’s Prayer”), Praise & Worship (“Worship Medley”), Prince-style electric soul (“It’s Me”), big ballads (“Stand Still”) and joyous calypso (“The Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)”). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc – much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.
It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Mary’s “Thankful” and Tonex’s “O2,” as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.

Your runnin
Your runnin
Deep own inside you can hear gods voice
Calling ou through all of the noice
Telling you its time to make a choice
You know its something you cannot avoid
And your wondering why its so hard to find joy
Even though you got money like Mayweather Floyd
You can't box with God I'm tell'n boy
Your runnin
Your runnin
Runnin from you call'n
Your runnin
Your runnin
Runnin from you call'n
Ohhh yeahhhh
Lift your hands and tell god yes
Yessss
Yessss
Runnin
Runnin
Runnin from your calling
You remind me of Jonah the prophet
He tried to run and he couldn't stop it
He got on a ship and God tore it up
They kick him off and he got swallowed him up
Even the fish had to vomit him up
When God is ready it's best to say yes
I think your ready just tell him yes
Ive been there before i must confess
Things are better when i told him yes
Your runnin
Your runnin
Runnin from you call'n
Your runnin
Your runnin
Runnin from you call'n
Yessssss
Runn'n
Runn'n
Runn'n from your call'n
The lyrics to Deitrick Haddon's song "Running" describe a person who is running away from God's call. The song starts off by repeating the phrase "Your runnin'" to emphasize that the person is actively avoiding or escaping from something. The next lines describe how God's voice can still be heard despite all the noise going on in the person's life. God is telling the person that it's time to make a choice and to stop running away from his or her destiny. However, the person is feeling frustrated and annoyed, even though he or she has money and material possessions. The song goes on to say that the person cannot box with God and that running away will only lead to more confusion and misery.
The chorus repeats the lines "Runnin' from your callin'" to drive home the theme of the song. However, the bridge of the song offers a message of hope. The lyrics refer to the biblical story of Jonah, who also tried to run away from God's call. Despite his resistance, God was able to fulfill his plan for Jonah's life, and the same can be true for the person in the song. The song asks the person to lift his or her hands and say yes to God's call. The lyrics state that the singer has been in the same situation before and that saying yes to God is the best decision he or she ever made.
Overall, the song "Running" is a reminder that everyone has a purpose in life and that running away from that purpose only causes more problems. The song encourages listeners to stop running and to say yes to God's call, even if it seems difficult or scary.
