Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.
However, I’m not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonex’s noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.
The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, “D.D.” and “Oh Yeah” (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (“Ain’t Got Nothing” and the radio hit, “Sinner’s Prayer”), Praise & Worship (“Worship Medley”), Prince-style electric soul (“It’s Me”), big ballads (“Stand Still”) and joyous calypso (“The Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)”). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc – much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.
It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Mary’s “Thankful” and Tonex’s “O2,” as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.

Well Done
Deitrick Haddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I just wanna make it in
I just wanna cross that river
I wanna be free from sin
I just want my name written (Oh Lord)
Written in the lambs Book of Life
When this life is over
I just wanna have eternal life
Well done, well done, well done
You can come on in.
Anybody wanna hear Him say? Yeah
Anybody wanna hear Him say? Yeah
Wave your hands where I can see 'em.
Anybody wanna see your loved ones
That you've lost along the way
I just wanna walk those streets of gold, yeah
They say the half has never, never been told
I don't want my singing Lord
I don't want it, to be in vain
Can I get a winner's amen?
I just wanna cross that river of God
That's why I'm living, day to day, just to hear him say
I wanna hear 'em say, stand up on your feet, church
Anybody wanna hear Him say, anybody out there?
I wanna hear Him say
Wave your hands right there of the Lord
I want you to close your eyes, don't loose your focus
Your purpose for living in this life is to serve Jesus Christ
And on the Day of Judgment, when it's all over
He'll say, come on in my good and faithful servant
Come on in, come on, lift your hands and worship
Yeah,
I feel the anointing of God right now, I feel the presence of the Lord right now
If you wanna hear the Lord say well done,
I want you to scream
Anybody wanna hear Him say?
Anybody wanna hear Him say?
Hear Him say, I wanna hear Him say
I wanna hear Him say
Yeah, yeah, yeah
You can come on in, my son
You can come on in, my daughter
You can come on in, you can come in
The lyrics of Deitrick Haddon's song "Well Done" are a poignant reflection on the desire for eternal salvation and the hope to hear the phrase "well done" from Jesus Christ when the time comes. The main theme of the song focuses on the longing of the singer to be accepted into heaven and receive eternal life. The lyrics are filled with a sense of urgency and an almost desperate desire to do all that it takes to get to heaven. The singer expresses that he is motivated by the desire to be free from sin and to have his name written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
The lyrics also speak of the anticipation of being reunited with loved ones who have passed away, as well as the desire to walk on the streets of gold in heaven. The singer expresses his hope that his singing will not be in vain and that he will one day be able to hear Jesus say "well done" to him. The repetition of the phrase "anybody wanna hear him say?" throughout the lyrics serves as a call to worship and a reminder of the importance of striving for eternal salvation.
Overall, Deitrick Haddon's "Well Done" is a touching and inspiring song that encourages listeners to live a life of purpose and to strive for eternal salvation.
