She went on to land in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart twice in 2016 with lead vocal stints on Dzeko & Torres' "L'Amour Toujours" and DVBBS and Shaun Frank's "La La Land." The latter also marked her debut on Canada's Hot 100. While working on material for her own EP, Jane returned to the Billboard dance chart with 2017's "Easy Go," a collaboration with Grandtheft that reached the number 26 spot. The year also brought her first Juno and Grammy nominations, both for the dance track "Limitless" by Adventure Club, featuring vocals by Jane. She made her solo debut with the breakup single "Howl" on her own Dirty Pretty Things label in December 2017. Subsequent solo singles appeared in 2018, including the piano ballad "Hotel Room" and the low-key pop of "Bad Habits" and "L.U.I."
Safe With You

That's someone else's name you called me
Now that I turn around, you look familiar to me too
All of my friends left me
So typical, it gets so messy
And so I'm kinda happy that I found that in you
You, I feel safe with you (you, you)
I feel safe with you (yeah)
Thought I would regret coming to this party
Empty bottles left, I don't know nobody but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe with you
People poppin' pills, powder on the counter
Ain't my type of thrill, all these ups and downs but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe with you
Feels like
Feels like I knew you in a past life
The way we vibin', you and I just seem so natural
And every time I felt like this before (yeah)
Everybody make me wanna find the nearest door
Always askin' myself, "What the fuck I really came here for?"
Maybe your the one that I've been lookin' for
Lookin' for
Thought I would regret coming to this party
Empty bottles left, I don't know nobody but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe with you
People poppin' pills, powder on the counter
Ain't my type of thrill, all these ups and downs but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe with you
You don't make me feel stupid for sayin' how I feel
And damn it feels good, damn it feels good to just be real
I thought I would regret coming to this party
Empty bottles left, I don't know nobody but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe with you
People poppin' pills, powder on the counter
Ain't my type of thrill, all these ups and downs but
I feel safe with you, I feel safe
I feel safe with you, you, you
I feel safe with you, you, you
I feel safe with you, you, you
I feel safe with you (yeah)
I thought I would regret coming to this party
"Safe With You" by Delaney Jane is about finding safety and comfort in the arms of a stranger at a party, where the atmosphere is destructive and potentially dangerous. She apologizes for not recognizing the person calling out her name, but as she turns around, she realizes that he looks familiar to her too. The singer feels happy that she found safety and comfort in this person, especially when all her friends left her alone at the party.
The song portrays a feeling of familiarity in a seemingly unfamiliar environment, and the singer finds solace in the other person's company. Delaney Jane compares her connection with the stranger to a past life, suggesting a profound bond. The lyrics suggest that this person is different from the others attending the party, where people are popping pills and using powder drugs.
The repetition of the phrase "I feel safe with you" conveys a sense of protection and care that the singer feels in the stranger's presence. The song's lyrics explore emotions of vulnerability, trust, and the desire for a genuine human connection. The song's chorus describes a feeling of safety, suggesting that the singer feels secure in the stranger's arms, away from the chaotic and unpredictable environment of the party.
