Pray!
Will a man rob God?

Overall Meaning

For the people of faith, the song "Pray" by the Christian metal band Deliverance is an invocation in itself. With a commanding opener of "Pray!" the song calls the audience to action and reflection. The opening lines of the song, "Will a man rob God?" refers to the Book of Malachi in the Hebrew Bible. The verse reads, "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions" (Malachi 3:8). This verse in Malachi is a message from God through the prophet Malachi about the sin of not giving one's tithes and offerings to God. The message in "Pray" is straightforward, that a person who robs God is not someone who will prosper. In the context of the song, it highlights the importance of prayer and gives the invitation to the audience to seek a closer relationship with God.

The chorus of "Pray" continues with the message of reflecting on the state of one's soul, asking, "Where does your help come from? Your help comes from the Lord." This line is a reference to Psalm 121:2 in the Bible, which says, "My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." The message behind this reference is that in difficult times, there is no need to fear, as help can come from the most high God. "Pray" invokes the message of seeking God in every aspect of life, in moments of need, desperation, and even triumph.

Pray!
Invoke a divine request for aid and assistance!

Will a man rob God?
Can a mere mortal actually steal from the Almighty Creator? This is a rhetorical question that emphasizes the futility of trying to deceive or cheat the omnipotent.

You asked, "Salvation from what?"
Salvation from eternal separation from God is a type of death. This type is spiritual. The Bible says every man will stand before God someday and be judged for their ways, actions, and beliefs in this life. The Bible says, after death we will all face this judgement before God." God wants us to to have a personal relationship with Him and be rescued from eternal separation from Him. Death in this life is not only eventually physical, but is currently spiritual when we do not know and accept God and His free gift of eternal salvation that comes only by the perfect unblemished lamb of provisional sacrifice that He not only has required to cover our sins, but also has provided to do so. This unblemished lamb's name is Jesus Christ, whose name means God's Salvation. From the New American Standard Version of the Holy Bible in the book of I Corinthians 15:1-4 says,
"Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, 2 by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to [a]the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
3 For I handed down to you [b]as of first importance what I also received, that CHRIST DIED  FOR OUR SINS  according to the Scriptures, 4 and that HE WAS BURIED, and that HE WAS  RAISED [from the dead] on the third day according to the Scriptures,..."

Jesus had to die that we might be reconciled (reunited in friendship with God). Right now you are an enemy of the True and Living God if you have not believed His Word, the Holy Bible and not called upon Him in Truth. Jesus said, "He also declared, "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No man comes the Father but through me."

Jesus was the unblemished blood sacrifice God required to cover our sins and pay the penalty for our disobedience to God. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, we are saying we believe He is God's provision for/payment for our sins. we are acknowledging that we are sinners (disobedient to God) and in need of a Savior from the penalty He tells us will come if we do not turn to Him to rescue us. Only God can do that. He has provided the coupon or ticket to redeem us from the penalty of sin which is death...death is not only physical, but eternal separation from God both now and after physical death. Death is an end to life as we know it and a beginning to a new life. If we want that life to be filled with good and not evil, we must call on Jesus now so we can eventually dwell in heaven with Him. Here on earth evil does not end, but the Lord is with us as we face whatever comes our way and He walks through things with us until He takes us to His eternal home. If you desire to pray and put your trust in Jesus, simply talk to him as you would talk to a friend. Confess your sins to Him that your friendship with God may be restored. Then read God's Word daily and ask Him to lead you to godly men who will help you learn and study God's Word so you know how to walk in this life here on earth. "Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path."

1 John 1:8-10

New American Standard Bible

8 (A)If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the (B)truth is not in us. 9 (C)If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and (D)cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 (E)If we say that we have not sinned, we (F)make Him a liar and (G)His word is not in us.

Read the book of Romans. In Romans 109-10 it says "Confession is made unto salvation".

I urge you, if you have not called on Jesus I urge you to do so now. No man knows the day nor hour of his death. Be prepared for eternity now, because after physical death we are without hope.

Ask, seek, knock and find Hid there waiting for you to come to Him to be reconciled ( reunited in friendship with God.) I hope you will pursue God and His provision for salvation.
