An actress, singer, talk show host, and author, the multi-talented Reese first started singing in church in her hometown of Detroit when she was six years old. By the age of 13, she was touring with gospel great Mahalia Jackson; then, at 18, she formed the Meditation Singers and became the first performer to bring gospel music to the casinos of Las Vegas. Reese expanded her musical repertoire as a vocalist with the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra and began recording albums, with such hits as "Don't You Know" and "And That Reminds Me" in the 1950s. She appeared extensively as a guest on the top television variety series, logging more than 20 appearances in one year on The Ed Sullivan Show on the CBS Television Network. Reese was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Female Soloist in Gospel Music in 1987.
Tapping into her other skills, she was host of a television talk show in 1969-1970, then began guest-starring in such series as Sanford and Son, The A-Team, Crazy Like a Fox and Picket Fences. She starred in the CBS Network series Charlie & Co. and The Royal Family. Reese's current projects include a new album based on her 27-city tour with her revue, "Some of My Best Friends Are the Blues," as well as song on the Touched By An Angel Soundtrack. Her best-selling autobiography, "Angels Along the Way," is published by G.P. Putnam's Sons. Reese also starred in the telefilms Emma's Wish, with Joanna Kerns, and The Secret Path, with Ossie Davis.

you don't know what to do
It seems the world is closing in on you
Its time to move
but you dont' know where to go.
You're in a panic
but you can't let is show
Dont' call your neighbour
Your answer isn't there
Dont' look to family
They have their own dispair.
There is a place to go
where someone will care
Take your burdens to the LORD
in prayer
You can ALWAYS go to GOD and pray
Be assurred that HE will meet you there
You don't have a thing to worry about
GOD can handle it
Without a doubt
JESUS will meet you there!
In prayer.
You walk the floor at night
and wonder what to do.
And wonder why trouble always follows you.
Friends disappoint you
after giving you their word.
Reasons they give you,
are the biggest lies you've heard.
I know just where to find the answers you seek
A conversation
where you need not even speak!
Steel yourself, and turn to ONE who really cares,
Take your burdens to the LORD in prayer.
If you're sick,
the LORD will make you well.
You can trust him
He won't listen and tell!
JESUS CHRIST is just the friend you need.
In HIM you have the power to succeed.
JESUS will meet you there. In prayer.
He can work it out.He can work it out.He can work it out.
JESUS will meet you there. In prayer.
You need a Friend to lend some power to you.
Your mind needs straightening out
You're totally confused
You need to know how much the SAVIOUR
really cares
You need to know
Your burdens
HE will gladly bear.
Turn within
That's where HE waits for you.
HE knows
when and where and what to do.
HE'll solve your problems
and heal your dispair
Just take your burdens to the LORD
in prayer.
Trust in the SAVIOUR
HE'll set you free.
To be ALL
that you are meant to be
If you trust in HIM
You will see
He gives life on all underneath.
JESUS will meet you there. In prayer.
Work it out
HE can
Work it out
HE will
Work it out
HE can
Work it out
He will
Work it out
Jesus will
Work it work it work it out
JESUS will meet you there. In prayer!
The lyrics to Della Reese's song "Work it Out" are a call to those who are lost and don't know where to turn. It talks about the confusion and panic that often comes with being overwhelmed and seemingly defeated by the world. It acknowledges that one can't always rely on family or friends to provide the answers or support that is needed. Instead, the song encourages the listener to turn to God and pray, acknowledging that Jesus will meet them there.
The song is a comforting reminder that there is always a safe place to go, a listening ear who is always available. It speaks to the power of prayer and faith in times of trouble, and the reassurance that God is always there to lift the burden and help work things out. The end of the song repeats the phrase "work it out," emphasizing the message that with Jesus on our side, we can overcome any obstacle or difficulty.
Overall, "Work it Out" is a beautiful and encouraging song, reminding us to never give up hope and to always turn to God for strength and guidance.
