Ragnaröck
Demether Lyrics

[text: M. Mandic / D. Deuric; music: D. Deuric]
After three winters of ice and cold
Two wolves from the North came to bring the fear
The One ate the moon
The other swallowed the sun
Screaming I hear...
The day of the last battle has come
Loosed Naglfar reached the land
And giants came
To the greatest plain on the Earth
Bifrost will fall...
The day has come
One day, one fight
For all the land
And for the last time
The battlefield will quest the brave
And the world will end on this day
But there they saw last stand of a man,
Mightiest army ever seen,

Every brave man failed ever on battlefield
Valhalla is there...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Demether's song Ragnaröck describe the final battle of Norse mythology. The singer begins by describing the harsh winter that precedes the battle, in which two wolves, Fenrir and Sköll, bring fear to the people by eating the moon and the sun. The day of the last battle has arrived, and Naglfar, a ship made of the nails of the dead, has arrived on the shore. Giants, led by the god Loki, have come to join the battle, as they seek to destroy the world along with the gods.

Despite the overwhelming odds, the singer notes that there is a brave man leading an army of warriors to make a stand against the forces of darkness. The man and his army are the mightiest ever seen in battle, but despite their bravery, the world will still end on this day. However, the singer notes that Valhalla, the hall of the slain, is there, which could imply that the warriors who die in battle will join the gods in the afterlife.

Overall, the song's lyrics are a chilling and epic description of the final battle in Norse mythology. They paint a picture of doom and destruction, but also of valor in the face of overwhelming odds.
