FREAK
Demi Lovato Lyrics

Prod me, laud me, ungodly but heaven sent
Get your tickets to the freak show, baby
Step right up to watch the freak go crazy
I am what I am and what I am is a piece of meat
Take a bite just to watch me bleed, freakSay what you want and what you want is behind your teeth
Ain't gotta spell it out for me, freak
Play me, you can cage me, even flame me
I don't care (I don't care)
Get your tickets to the freak show, baby
Step right up to watch the freak go crazy
I am what I am and what I am is a piece of meat
Take a bite just to watch me bleed, freak
Say what you want and what you want is behind your teeth
Ain't gotta spell it out for me, freak
Came from the trauma, stayed for the drama
Came from the trauma, stayed for the drama
Came from the trauma, stayed for the drama
Came from the trauma, stayed for the drama
I am what I am and what I am is a piece of meat
Take a bite just to watch me bleed, freak
Say what you want and what you want is behind your teeth
Ain't gotta spell it out for me, freak
The song "fREAk" by Demi Lovato is a bold and unapologetic track about embracing one's own nature, flaws and all. The lyrics evoke a sense of liberation and a desire to be seen for who one truly is, without any judgment or censorship. The first verse suggests a willingness to be pushed to the limits and to explore the dark and unconventional aspects of one's personality. The repetition of "inch me to the edge" and "ungodly but heaven sent" implies a sense of danger and excitement, as if the singer is willing to take risks and challenge norms to feel alive.
The chorus reinforces this idea of being a "freak" and finding joy in being misunderstood or underestimated. The invitation to the "freak show" is not meant as an insult, but as a celebration of uniqueness and individuality. The lines "I am what I am and what I am is a piece of meat/Take a bite just to watch me bleed" suggest a willingness to be vulnerable and exposed, to let others see the raw and unfiltered self. The repetition of "freak" throughout the song is a way of reclaiming a term that might otherwise be used to shame or exclude.
The bridge, with its repetition of "came from trauma, stayed for the drama," adds another layer of complexity to the song. It suggests that the singer's sense of identity and defiance may be linked to past hardship or struggle, and that they have found a sense of community and validation in embracing their true self. The final chorus reinforces the central message of the song, that being a "freak" is not a weakness but a strength, and that no one else gets to define who you are or what your worth is.

@@heitoor6047 I swear to god if Demi doesn't re-record this song with Sabrina Carpenter instead, I'm gonna do something I won't regret doing. The guy who featured on this track, well, his verse really upset my girlfriend and made her ears bleed, and he assaulted Karen McKarenson. I want Sabrina Carpenter in this song because she sounds more like a woman than an alien.
@GrplrZrn
Tbh, I'm impressed.
I don't really know much of her music, aside from Dancing with the Devil but my google feed keeps letting me know that she was coming out with this rock album.
Decided to give it a go and ended up enjoying what I found.
