Would you come to my freak show
Tonight?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Four, three, two, one
I wanna get buzzed on the weekend
Get messed up and depressed with my friends
'Cause I don't need, no, I don't need you
So I'ma take a drug on the weekend
Take myself outta my suppressed head
'Cause I don't need, no, I don't need you
See I've been hurt ten times before
I've hurt myself and so much more
They took me to the seventh floor
And threw me right off (threw me right off)
See everybody wants to be a little like us
But they don't understand all the things we've done
They will try to change you
'Cause they are so afraid of you
But hold on
Hold on
'Cause faux plastic dolls
With their hands and their ribbons
Will strangle us all
And they'll all be forgiven
I refuse to be taken
The typical waySo welcome to the freak show
I hope that you find yourself today
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I wanna get buzzed on the weekend
Get messed up and depressed with my friends
'Cause I don't need, no, I don't need you
So I'ma take a drug on the weekend
Take myself outta my suppressed head
'Cause I don't need, no, I don't need you
See I'm asleep but wide awake
I pray the Lord my soul will break
It's right there on the table
So take it off (take it off)
See everybody wants to be a little like them
But they don't understand how it all will end
They will try to break you
'Cause they are so ashamed of you
But hold on
Hold on
'Cause faux plastic dolls
With their hands and their ribbons
Will strangle us all
And they'll all be forgiven
I refuse to be taken
The typical way
So welcome to the freak show
I hope that you find yourself today
Times will change and you might break
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
Times will change and you might break
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe in you
Times will change and you might break (I believe in you)
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe in you
Times will change and you might break (I believe in you)
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
Times will change and you might break
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
Times will change and you might break
But we'll go on, we'll go on, I believe it
We'll go on, we'll go on, I believe in you
I believe in you
Times will change and you might break
But I will spend my life believing in you
The lyrics to "Freak" by Demi Lovato featuring YUNGBLUD convey a sense of rebellion and defiance against societal norms and expectations. The song starts with the questioning of mortality, asking if someone would come to their "freak show" if they were to die tomorrow. This sets the tone for the rest of the song, expressing a desire to live life on their terms.
The first verse explores the idea of seeking escapism through partying and substance use. It mentions wanting to get "buzzed on the weekend" and getting "messed up and depressed" with friends, emphasizing a disregard for the opinions and presence of others. The lyrics suggest a rejection of dependency on others, defiantly stating, "I don't need, no, I don't need you." It reflects a mindset of finding solace and freedom in indulging in one's own vices.
The chorus highlights the feeling of being misunderstood and judged by society. It touches upon the desire for acceptance and the fear of being changed or manipulated by others. The lyrics caution against conforming to societal expectations, comparing those who conform to "faux plastic dolls with their hands and their ribbons." It emphasizes the refusal to be taken down the "typical way" and invites listeners to embrace their individuality.
The second verse delves deeper into the struggles faced by the artist. It mentions being "asleep but wide awake" and praying for their soul to break, hinting at inner turmoil and a longing for release. It acknowledges the judgment and attempts to break them by others who are ashamed. However, the lyrics encourage resilience and defiance, urging the listener to hold on and stay true to themselves.
The bridge of the song serves as an affirmation of belief. It acknowledges that times may change and hardships may arise, but the belief in oneself and one's ability to persevere remains strong. It emphasizes the idea of going on and believing in oneself, even in the face of adversity. The repetition of "I believe in you" and "we'll go on" reinforces the message of resilience and support.
Overall, "Freak" is a song that celebrates individuality and encourages listeners to reject societal pressures. It urges them to find solace and liberation in being true to themselves, even if it means being perceived as a "freak." The lyrics convey a sense of empowerment, encouraging self-belief and the determination to embrace one's uniqueness.

@@heitoor6047 I swear to god if Demi doesn't re-record this song with Sabrina Carpenter instead, I'm gonna do something I won't regret doing. The guy who featured on this track, well, his verse really upset my girlfriend and made her ears bleed, and he assaulted Karen McKarenson. I want Sabrina Carpenter in this song because she sounds more like a woman than an alien.
@GrplrZrn
Tbh, I'm impressed.
I don't really know much of her music, aside from Dancing with the Devil but my google feed keeps letting me know that she was coming out with this rock album.
Decided to give it a go and ended up enjoying what I found.
