Descending Upon Us
Demon Hunter Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To see these idols fall
Drag them out into the light
Let fate devour whole
This is your fault
You fool of faith untrue
That we should face the grave with such a blackened view.
We see the damage done in the eyes of those, turning away
Save your plea for the day that we suffer the wake of this treason.
Rain like fire descending upon us in holy resolve
Upon this ground.
Hollow name of five encircled frame
Deception incarnate, receive my vow of hate.
Oh, (this pain is true) see how the blood
Will run into the eyes of those, turning away
We see the damage done
Resounding desecration
We see the damage done
Blackened insurrection
Suppress the pain of mind as long as you can bear
And feel the desperation clawing from within.
They say the truth is found when Hell is at your doorstep.
You'd better pray to see that time come to pass.
The lyrics of this song by Demon Hunter speak about the destruction of idols that come in the form of hollow names and deception. The singer urges the listeners to call out these idols and drag them into the light, so that fate can consume them entirely. They blame the "fool of faith untrue" for the blackened view of life that they and others face in their graves. The pain and destruction caused by these false gods is visible in the eyes of those who turn away from it.
The chorus talks about the holy resolve that is descending upon them in the form of rain like fire. The singer asks these fake gods to receive their vow of hate as they see the blood run into the eyes of those who turn away. The damage done by these deception incarnates has caused resounding desecration and blackened insurrection. The lyrics urge suppression of the pain of the mind and desperation within, and to pray for the truth to be found when Hell is at the doorstep.
