Scandinavian Aftermath
Demotional Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There′s nothing weirder than to wake up with my enemy
Despite I know that I was wrong
I take the thought and push it away
I don't believe that the fact I never learn
I never change, won′t have a downside for me
I'm immortal, I'll be okay
But what comes up must come down, that′s what they say, what they say
There′s always hope in a brand-new day
When we dream then the reality seem far away
When morning comes same old thing because
Life's a party and I′m hopelessly addicted to the rush

I can't help it, I′m such a slave
There is something in my veins I can't contain
When will I learn to behave?
So just fuck it, let′s play the game
Let's enjoy the ride, we all die all the same

There's always hope in a brand-new day
When we dream then the reality seem far away
When morning comes same old thing because
Life′s a party and I′m hopelessly addicted to the rush

There's always hope in a brand-new day
When we dream then the reality seem far away

When morning comes same old thing because
Life′s a party and I'm hopelessly addicted to the rush

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Scandinavian Aftermath" by Demotional seem to portray a sense of apathy towards one's own actions and the consequences that come with them. It starts with the singer waking up next to their enemy, which indicates that they might have indulged in something they shouldn't have. Despite knowing that it was wrong, they push the thought away and convince themselves that they'll be okay in the end. The line "I'm immortal, I'll be okay" suggests that they believe that they can get away with anything and don't need to change their ways.

The chorus goes on to talk about the hope that comes with a new day and how dreams can take one away from the harsh reality. But in the end, the reality remains the same, with life being nothing more than a party that the singer is hopelessly addicted to. The line "Life's a party and I'm hopelessly addicted to the rush" seems to indicate that the singer is aware that they're living recklessly, but they're unable to stop themselves because of the thrill that comes with it.

Overall, "Scandinavian Aftermath" portrays a sense of nihilism and apathy towards life and its consequences. The singer, despite being aware of their actions, is unable to change their reckless ways, indicating a lack of motivation to do so.

A+. 5 stars. 10/10. Killer album, guys. Now I just have to sit on my hands while I wait for you to journey across the ocean. Here's hoping you can make it to the USA!

The fact they put this out for free shows they’re about the passion of music and not the money. Sounds soooo good!

@Denver Lilly Savatage and TSO had a huge turnout in 2015 (even in the absolute pooring rain). But it was at Wacken, so I'm not sure how that skews the numbers...

Denver Lilly

@Justin Hetrick that's honestly surprising considering those are more American radio friendly bands. The biggest turnout I've ever seen for metal bands was Devin Townsend and Nightwish.

Justin Hetrick

@Denver Lilly your absolutely right I went to a 5 finger .. bad wolves concert a few years ago and the turnout was way lower than I expected and most of the good metal bands are foreign no doubt.. I hate the popular styles here in the us.

Denver Lilly

@Justin Hetrick I've been into metal since circa 2006, I've found bands I love across the whole metal spectrum. I got into these guys sometime between the release of State: In Denial and Tarassis. I love the lyrics from a lot of bands but these guys really hit me on a personal level. As far as popularity, it doesn't help that a good percentage of metal bands are foreign and probably have a much better market overseas. I don't know where you're from but in the US, we're mostly pop, rap, and country. The metal concerts don't get an enormous turnout unless they're a more widely known band. I suppose it's just a matter of location and culture.

Justin Hetrick

@Denver Lilly I've been listening to them for about 7 years now I would say and I have loved almost every single song I've heard from them. Their earliest songs was hit and miss for me but that was also when I was first coming into the metal genre. Their songs are not only amazing head banging music but deep lyrically and just all around great music.. but most people today follow the "in" thing and sadly this style of music isnt all over the radio so the amazing ones like these guys wont ever get the recognition they deserve 100%
