Lay me Down
Denise LaSalle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Senhor
Agora venho a ti
Para poder confessar
As falhas, que cometi
Por isso venho a ti

Perdoa me senhor
Perdoa me senhor
Me da teu amor
De Joelhos venho agora
Para lhe ti imorar
Perdoa me senhor
Perdoa a me

Senhor agora sou feliz
Pois minhas agora ouvistes
Minha entrego a ti
Por isso venho a ti

Perdoa me senhor
Perdoa me senhor
Me dá teu amor
De joelhos venho agora
Para ti imorar
Perdoa me senhor
Perdoa me

Perdoa a me senhor
Perdoa me
Perdoa me senhor

Perdoa me
Perdoa me senhor

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Denise LaSalle's song Lay Me Down are a heartfelt confession of a person coming to God to ask for forgiveness for their shortcomings. The lyrics address God as "Senhor" and the person acknowledges their mistakes and asks for forgiveness. This plea for forgiveness and love is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the vulnerability and humility of the person seeking redemption.

The second verse of the song speaks of the person's happiness as they believe God has heard their prayers and they have surrendered themselves to Him. The person declares their commitment to God, promising to always come back to Him. The song ends with a simple but powerful repetition of "Perdoa me senhor" as a final plea for forgiveness.

Overall, the song Lay Me Down is a powerful expression of human vulnerability and the need for divine forgiveness and love. Denise LaSalle's emotive delivery of the lyrics adds to the emotional intensity of the song.

I will forever love the Queen of Blues and this is one of my favorite songs of hers.  She can outdo any young "talent" with sexy lyrics any day.

"Don't roll back the sheets, just jump in that bed!  Love me down to my high-heels and I will love you to your head!!!"  Lay Me Down... Just Lay Me on Down!" 2:58

Hi Pam. I can relate. This was one of my grandmothers favorite. I would take my lil jam box (boom box) and sit with her. She was bed ridden, and I would sit in her room and play this song over and over. She and I would just sit there for hours, as I was her personal DJ (smile). I often cry as well. But it's tears of joy. Knowing that she and I had this special time to ourselves. Now when I play this, I know she comes around. I'm sure your mom is still with you as well. God bless. thejukejoint
