It came to life in 2006, by the hands of 4 young musicians with diverse musical backgrounds and experiences (such as classical music, jazz, ethnical and traditional music), searching to recreate a sound rooted in popular music through the crossing of different musical languages and musical research serving as a base for the group's original compositions. Their first album - Canção ao Lado was released in 2008.
"...Her name is Deolinda and she is old enough to realize that life isnt as easy as it seems. Merrily unmarried, in love and out of love, born in Lisbon, she inhabits a ground floor apartment somewhere in the suburbs of the capital. She writes her own songs by peeking through the curtains of her window, drawing inspiration from the old gramophone records that once belonged to her grandmother and by the bizarre and strange life of her neighbours. She lives with 2 cats and a gold fish..."

Negras sombras a rondavam
Era meia-noite
E o meu amor tardava
A nossa casa, a nossa vida
Foi de novo revirada
À meia-noite O meu amor não estava
Ai, eu não sei onde ele está
Se à nossa casa voltará
Foi esse o nosso compromisso
E acaso nos tocar o azar
O combinado é não esperar
Que o nosso amor é clandestino
Com o bebé, escondida,
Quis lá eu saber, esperei
Era meia-noite
E o meu amor tardava
E arranhada pelas silvas
Sei lá eu o que desejei:
Não voltar nunca...
Amantes, outra casa...
E quando ele por fim chegou
Trazia as flores que apanhou
E um brinquedo pró menino
E quando a guarda apontou
Fui eu quem o abraçou
Que o nosso amor é clandestino
The song "Clandestino" by Deolinda is about a forbidden love between two people who have to keep their relationship hidden from the world. The lyrics describe a cold, dark night where the singer is waiting for her lover who is late returning home. The couple's house has been searched, and the singer is worried, not knowing where her partner is or if he will return. The couple had agreed not to wait for each other if something went wrong, as their love is clandestine, and they don't want to risk being caught. The singer is left alone with their baby, waiting in the dark, uncertain of what has happened to her partner, and what the future holds for them.
The song speaks to the universal human experience of feeling trapped and powerless when society or circumstances prevent one from being with the person they love. It also highlights the sacrifices and risks that people are willing to take to be with someone they care about. The poignant melody and emotive lyrics make "Clandestino" a touching tribute to the power of love, despite the challenges it may face.

Our house, our life
Foi de novo revirada
Was once again ransacked
À meia-noite
At midnight

My love was not there
Ai, eu não sei onde ele está
Oh, I don't know where he is
Se à nossa casa voltará
If he will return to our house
Foi esse o nosso compromisso
That was our agreement

Amantes, outra casa...
Lovers, another house...
E quando ele por fim chegou
And when he finally arrived
Trazia as flores que apanhou
He brought the flowers he picked
E um brinquedo pró menino
And a toy for the boy
E quando a guarda apontou
And when the guards showed up
Fui eu quem o abraçou
I was the one who hugged him
Que o nosso amor é clandestino
Because our love is clandestine
