Shake the Disease
Depeche Mode Lyrics

I'm not going down on my knees,
Begging you to adore me
Can't you see it's misery
And torture for me
When I'm misunderstood
Try as hard as you can, I've tried as hard as I could
To make you see
How important it is for me

Here is a plea
From my heart to you
Nobody knows me
As well as you do
You know how hard it is for me
To shake the disease
That takes hold of my tongue
In situations like these

Understand me
Some people have to be
Permanently together
Lovers devoted to
Each other forever
Now I've got things to do
And I've said before that I know you have too
When I'm not there
In spirit I'll be there

Here is a plea
From my heart to you
Nobody knows me
As well as you do
You know how hard it is for me
To shake the disease
That takes hold of my tongue
In situations like these

Understand me

Any true Devotees listening to this epic masterpiece in January 2021?

Bodies2Magenta

@Tyler Newton Indeed! 👌

@Chegg Egghead - Oh yeah, I actually am listening to DM 86 - 98 this morning. I love that single that they released Only When I Lose Myself. Much underrated song, of course.

Tyler Newton

Chegg Egghead

Yes I am..the hits 80..85

@Mic Jubba - Awesome. One of the most beautifully ambient, chorus driven messages ever from any song by anyone - just so happens Depeche Mode released this gem. 😝

The song that changed my life. September 1985, 15 years old, a lazy and sunny holiday with my parents in Liguria (Italy) between sunshine, sand and beach umbrellas then suddenly this song on air on the radio. Something new, something different blew my mind...bought with my tip the singles 81-85 tape cassette, listened to this song hundreds of times...and then blasphemous rumours and all...started to dress more and more in black, approaching to new wave and wasn’t enough, embracing goth and then my first true beloved girlfriend, dancefloors, black celebration , the gig in Milan on October 1987, the goosebumps and the tears, new people, new friends, so many other bands, gigs, festivals, experience, deep sadness and overwhelming joy...nothing has been the same anymore, nothing. Always thankful to DM to free up my soul and to this song for changing a chrysalis in a butterfly. It’ always with deep and nostalgic feelings that I listen to this evergreen and eternal masterpiece.
