Blight
Derek Duke Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I got the attitude
And that's all I ever say
Don't have to tell nobody
How their tail ought to lay
Had a sudden revelation
The heights that I've sunken down to
And I don't mind I can't find
My way out of this witch's brew
Livin' for the lizard life
Livin' for the lizard life
I stumbled on the way around
My own reality
Gettin' right-tightly wound
Past the pale of normality
I like big loungin' every day
On the iguana side of town
The lizard love, it mighty deep
Talkin' way underground
Livin' for the lizard life
Livin' for the lizard life
Livin' for the lizard life
Livin' for the lizard life
I be a reptile all day
And it's so fine
Ain't no other way
Like a life minus mind
I prefer reclinin'
Beatin' that conga drum
And waitin' for a three-point landin'
On my sticky tongue
Livin' for the lizard life
Livin' for the lizard life

Livin' for the lizard life
I'm livin with a lizard life

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Derek Duke's song, "Blight," describe a person who is fully embracing a life of indulgence and carefree behavior, or as the song puts it, "livin' for the lizard life." The opening lines speak to the singer's attitude, one of confidence and independence. The following lines reveal that the singer has come to a realization about the depths they have sunk to but are enjoying the life they're living. The lyrics paint a picture of someone who is living outside the norms of society, someone who is getting "right-tightly wound, past the pale of normality."

The singer's love for this so-called "lizard life" is emphasized in each verse. They have no desire to conform to anyone else's expectations, instead, they want to live "on the iguana side of town," where things are wild and free. The singer imagines themselves as a reptile, where there's no mind or worries, just lounging and waiting for opportunities to indulge in their desires. The song is a celebration of letting loose and being completely uninhibited, though it also recognizes the inherent danger in such a lifestyle.

Overall, the lyrics of "Blight" are an ode to reckless abandon, a reminder that sometimes the most valuable thing in life is to let go of inhibitions and embrace all that the world has to offer, even if that means living like a lizard.

@Madhijz

the first undead mission, with the sneaking and such. God I loved that vibe

@IMMAOILMAN

I love how all of the Scourge themes have a feeling of building hysteria. Fits perfectly.

@chook151

"For the spider kingdom.." "I go unseen" "What we do?" "Reaghe!" "The shadows beckon" "Yess" "My patience has ended!" "I must hunt soon" "For the scourge" "Die......." Undead will never die. They are already dead. The scourge shall not fade.

@SOSYML

My fave (which I think I can mimic): "My patience has ended"

OMG this song is so brilliant...

@MrSarMax

- Нельзя сотворить здесь!
- Нужно больше золота!

@chook151

Reminds me of troll music. Especially from the original zul'aman (not the raid). Whenever i looked over that bigstone wall in ghostlands and saw the dark, foreboding trees in the distance, and explored their dark burial grounds, i always felt that this suited it. A dark, unknown, and ancient primal evil. Ready to kill you. I find it easiest to describe as "How The world was before light"

You cannot summon there!

we demand additional lumber

@psicaliph

Can only be summoned on blighted ground.
