I Am Yours
Derek and the Dominos Lyrics

I am yours.
However distant you may be,
There blows no wind but wafts your scent to me,
There sings no bird but calls your name to me.
Each memory that has left its trace with me
Lingers forever as a part of me.

RS?
Groundbreaking mag at one time but run of the mill for years now.
Critics and people that rate bands and albums?

Ask yourself
Why is Layla and the amazing, creative musicians, along with Tom Dowd, still relevant and being listened to by people of all ages around the world 51 years later?
How many future generations are gonna be finding Nirvana's music interesting and influential 51 years after their demise? Some will but my guess is not many.
To me, that puts "critics" and their rankings in the proper perspective.

The Beatles only recorded for 7 years but their music has influenced millions for decades and will be listened to and covered for a thousand years
Even though there are critics today, and yet to be born, that will discount their massive contribution to the arts and the joy their music still brings us
Moral of the story

Don't place much stock in the opinion of self-described "experts" called critics

I think the organ and background harmony is what weaves it all together. Thank you Bobby Whitlock.

Bobby Whitlock added SO much to this record: it’s a shame he’s too often overlooked for his contributions. The songwriting, the harmony, that B3, the piano overdubs on the Layla coda, and the absolute commitment and fire that he brought to the entire process. Plus, he was only 22-23 years old!

Most of the lyrics are straight out of the Persian epic poem The Story of Layla and Majnun which was written by a poet named Nizami. So much so that Clapton gave him co writing credit for the song. The poem is also where the name of the album came from.

Lets not forget Bobby Whitlock´s sublime harmony vocals and organ playing on this track..
