Thorn Tree in the Garden
Derek and the Dominos Lyrics

There's a thorn tree in the garden, if you know just what I mean,
And I hate to hurt your feelings but its not the way it seems,
'Cause I miss her.

She's the only girl I've cared for, the only one I've known.
And no one ever shared more love than we've known.
And I miss her.

But it all seems so strange to see,
That she'd never turn her back on me
And leave without a last goodbye.
And if she winds up walking the streets,
Loving every other man she meets
Who'll be the one to answer why?
Lord, I hope it's not me, it's not me.

And if I never see her face again, I never hold her hand.
And if she's in somebody's arms, I know I'll understand
But I miss that girl. I still miss that girl.

Maybe someday soon, somewhere.

Such a beautiful song written by the incredible Bobby Whitlock.
If this doesn't move ya, you may not have a pulse.

Bobby wrote this

@G-Girl Bobby says he wrote it. This recording was done with all the guys in the room, just one boom mic, no others mics.

Whitlock's voice is just killer in this. I thought clapton wrote it tho.

It feels good listen to this after the piano ending of Layla. Perfect close to a perfect album too.

Are there anymore songs like these by Derek and the dominoes?

Well said Mikasa

I almost cry every time I hear this. I went thru some bad times as a kid when this came out and I'd listen to this album almost every night, always ending with this great song. Kinda sappy, but it touched my soul...

I cry every time I hear it

Some black hearted man had Bobby Whitlock’s dog put to sleep when he was out one day. It broke his heart and he wrote this song immediately and played it for the piece of garbage who did this heinous act to his beloved dog.
