This song was released just before my son was born. We almost lost him, he spent the first month of his life in NICU. My wife and I listened to this song on repeat it held so much weight for what we were feeling and going through at the time. It will forever be linked to his life and perseverance. Forever grateful for Dermot his lyrics and how this song helped us cope and give us hopefulness. Maybe not the form for this comment but wanted to express how much this song means to my family. He is the most underrated artist ever. I started listening to him when he was still singing on the streets. Sometimes they have every right to walk away, as was the case with me. I was addicted to drugs and consistently put her last on my list of priorities and i was causing her so much pain, and it would be unreasonable for me to say she should have stayed. She was right to leave and i don't blame her, i only look back now and realize she was the one, but by the time i got clean and realized what i really had right infront of me, it was too late and too much damage was done.
