Housewives
Derrick Morgan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All I need from you is a good conversation, conversation
'Cause it gives me sweet inspiration
And to tell you, I never felt this way before
I know there is someway today

Love your brothers
Love your sisters
And to tell you I must admit you've got me thinking
There were times I thought that I was thinking
But I always want to be in that position where I can see more clearly
Now I must admit that you've got me thinking

Love your brothers
Love your sisters

And to tell you I must admit, you've got me thinking
There were times I thought that I was thinking
But I always want to be in that position where I can see more clearly
Now I must admit that you've got me thinking

Love your brothers
Love your sisters

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Derrick Morgan & Patsy's song "Housewives Choice" suggest a desire for intellectual and emotional connection through good conversation. The singer acknowledges the significance of conversation as a source of inspiration, and confesses to never having felt this way before. This emphasizes the transformative power of conversation, and suggests that the singer has newly discovered this facet of human connection. The subsequent lines indicate that the singer may have been lacking in clear thinking prior to this, and seeks the mental and emotional clarity that can come from meaningful exchanges. The repeated refrain of "love your brothers, love your sisters" seems to call for greater compassion and empathy towards others, and emphasizes the importance of interpersonal relationships.

Overall, "Housewives Choice" is a song about the power of conversation in fostering meaningful human connections, personal growth, and social responsibility. The lyrics encourage listeners to engage in thoughtful dialogue with others, and to cultivate a sense of compassion and love towards all people. By doing so, the singer suggests we can not only improve our own lives, but also contribute to a more just and ethical society.

Gotta be one of the all time greatest ska tunes!

@clivnew

used to hear this at the all nighter at the whiskey in Birmingham.in 1965 along with satisfaction by Otis reading and night train by James brown. I was just 15 at the time and with a big family it was easy to fox my parents

@worldcoup

Tell you what. I might be getting on a bit. But I'm glad I'm of an age to appreciate this sound. What an underrated classic tune from a woefully neglected genre.
