Los mineros
Desakato Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ya madruguen los mineros
Van canciando pel camin
Caminando ente les peñes
Nun saben quien va a vivir.

Esi dia una desgracia
Diba suceder elli
Pero ellos nun lo sabien
Y disponense a partir.

Veinticinco jornaleros
Vense desaparecer
Y los otros veinticinco
Quedense alli de pie.

Una vez que taben dientru
Algo nun
Yos marcha bien
Explosion na galeria
Y todos a correr!

Y cinco morrieron esi dia
A eso del amanecer.
Y todos corrieron pa salvalos
Pero na pudieron facer.

Con el friu la mañana
Todu'l mundu se entero
La xente del pueblu vino
No habia consolacion.

Los llantos de los mineros
Rompien el corazon
Con sangre de compañeros
Moyabase el carbon.

Les families destrozades
Solo desesperacion
Se palpaba en esa mina
Y por fin llego el patron.

¿Onde tabes hijoputa?
Solo yes un lladron

Gritabeni los mineros
Entes que pedia perdon.

Overall Meaning

The song "Los mineros" by Desakato is a tribute to the mining community and the hardships they face in their profession. The lyrics tell the story of a group of miners who are heading out to work early in the morning, not knowing that a tragedy is about to occur. As they trek through the mountain passes, they are singing and joking, but little do they know that soon twenty-five of them will disappear forever, victims of an explosion in the mine. The remaining twenty-five miners are left to mourn their colleagues and to try and come to terms with the tragedy that has struck them.

The second verse of the song tells us about the moment of the explosion, the chaos and fear that ensues, and the futile attempt to save the lives of the lost miners. The cold morning light bears witness to the tragedy, and the families and loved ones of the deceased come to the mine to comfort each other in their grief. The cries and tears of the miners echo in sadness around the mine as they try to cope with their loss, and the blackened coal serves as a macabre reminder of their fallen comrades.

The final verse is directed at the mine owner or boss, who is accused of being a thief ("lladron") and a coward for not taking responsibility for the tragedy. The outburst of anger towards this person shows the frustration of the miners and their loved ones at the lack of accountability in the mining industry. The song ends on a bittersweet note, with the knowledge that life goes on, but it will never be the same for those who survived.
