All dressed up and nowhere to go
I see your friends but they don't know
About real life and what it feels like
Dans mes reves
We stare at movies and magazines
I'm so sick of this plastique scene
All the faces are just fading away
And that's real life
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
Dans mes reves
All messed up and nowhere to go
I see your friends but they don't know
Dans mes reves
About real life and what it feels like
Dans mes reves
You could have been my baby doll
I could've given you anything
Dans mes reves
But this is real life and what feels like
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
In my dreams (all the faces are just fading away)
Love is real
Dans mes reves
In my dreams
Dans mes reves
Dans me reves
You could have been my baby doll
Love is real
Dans me reves
You could have been my baby doll
Love is real
Dans me reves
You could have been my baby doll
Love is real
Dans me reves
You could have been my baby doll
Love is real
In my dreams
Love is real
In my dreams
Love is real
In my dreams
The song "Dans Mes Reves" by Desire is sung entirely in French and talks about the singer's dreams and her longing for real love amidst the superficiality of her surroundings. The opening lines, "All dressed up and nowhere to go / I see your friends but they don't know", suggests that the singer is surrounded by people who are more concerned with appearances than with genuine emotions. The repeated phrase "Dans mes reves" (in my dreams) is the central motif of the song, indicating a longing for a world beyond the one she is currently in.
The singer is disillusioned with the "plastique scene" around her, which could refer to the superficiality of Hollywood culture, where appearances are everything. Instead, she longs for something real and meaningful, which she only finds "in my dreams". The line "All the faces are just fading away / And that's real life" suggests that the singer is seeing through the masks of those around her and realizing that true love and meaningful relationships are hard to come by in the real world.
The phrase "You could have been my baby doll" further emphasizes the singer's longing for connection and love. Overall, the song is a wistful meditation on the difficulty of finding genuine connection in a superficial world.
