Don't Call
Desire Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And babe that's a good thing
I'm still here
And looking for something
To come along, to come along
I know, I know
We both say the same things
I don't care, I don't care
So don't call, don't call
To talk about nothing
So many times
I waited for you
I figured it out
And now we're through
I wont give up, I wont give in
I know, I know
We both say the same things
I don't care, I don't care
About winning
So don't call, don't call
To talk about nothing
You're gone
And babe that's a good thing
I've spent my days working for something
We don't give up, we don't give in
I know, I know
We both say the same things
I don't care, I don't care
About winning
So don't call, don't call
To talk about nothing
The lyrics to Desire's song "Don't Call" convey the message of moving on after a break-up. The singer seems to be relieved that their former partner is gone and is now focusing on their own life. They express a willingness to let go of past issues and do not care about winning or losing. The repetition of the lines "We both say the same things, I don't care about winning" emphasizes the idea that the singer is no longer interested in arguing or trying to make the relationship work.
The chorus, "So don't call, don't call to talk about nothing" is a clear indication that the singer wants to move on without any lingering communication with the ex-partner. They acknowledge that they have spent too much time waiting for the person but have now figured out that it's time to move on. The last verse, "I've spent my days working for something, we don't give up, we don't give in" shows that the singer is in a better place now and is focused on working towards their goals.
Overall, the lyrics of "Don't Call" convey a sense of resolve and independence in the wake of a relationship ending. The singer is determined to move forward and not dwell on the past.
