Despite My Deepest Fear are a five-piece Metalcore band from London, UK. Well established for intense live performance and heavy breakdowns, Despite My Deepest Fear are exponentially increasing both their song writing skills and fan base. The explosive 'This Dies With Us' captures both their raw, aggressive sound in Dead To The World, to their more melodic moments that can be found in Paris Licks It Up Good.
Although they never claimed to have re-invented the genre, they have taken the current standard of British Metalcore to a whole new level, and promise even more development and pace with their new yet-to-be-titled EP, containing new tracks such as Life In Purgatory and It's Just Not Fun Anymore, along with a re-recorded and produced version of Paris. Despite My Deepest Fear are a band to look out for throughout 2010 as they push North with their soon to be announced tours
The Feeding Ground
Despite My Deepest Fear Lyrics

Nor is the ground that you walk on
So why hold your head so high?
This familiar home has become a feeding ground for insults
And your slick tongue fits in so well
I can’t remember your face
I’m looking at you but there’s no memory
But in the end you’re all the same
So what’s the point in living a lie when you change it day by day
You’re spending all of your time wasting, just wasting it away
And we are sick of the same sights
And we are sick of being sheltered away
So put your feet on the ground
Magnify the world, come and see the shit we live in
Come and see the shit that we live in
And we are sick
And we are sick of it all
And we are sick
And we are sick of it all
So what’s the point in living a lie when you change it day by day
You’re spending all of your time wasting, just wasting it away
And we are sick of the same sights
And we are sick of being sheltered away
So put your feet on the ground
Magnify the world, come and see the shit we live in
Come and see the shit that we live in.
The Feeding Ground by Despite My Deepest Fear is a powerful song about the struggle of dealing with insults and false appearances. The song begins with a commentary on how life is not always easy and perfect, but rather grim and imperfect. The lyrics question why some people hold their heads so high when they are living in the same harsh world as everyone else. The familiar home has turned into a feeding ground for insults, and the slick tongue of the people around fits in all too well.
The second verse speaks about the memory loss and sameness of people. The singer wonders what's the point in living a lie when everything changes so rapidly. Instead of wasting time, it's best to magnify the world and see the harsh reality of the world. The chorus is repeated twice, emphasizing how everyone is tired of being sheltered away and living in the same environment. The song ends on a note of challenge, encouraging people to put their feet on the ground and see the reality of the world they live in.
Overall, The Feeding Ground is a commentary on the false appearances and insults that often plague society. The song's lyrics encourage listeners to see the world as it truly is and to stop living a lie.
