In early 2000, both Roberson and Luckett were replaced with Williams and Farrah Franklin; however, Franklin quit after five months, leaving the group as a trio. Their third album, Survivor (2001), whose themes the public interpreted as a channel to the group's experience, produced the worldwide hits "Independent Women", "Survivor" and "Bootylicious. In 2001, they announced a hiatus to pursue solo careers. The trio reunited three years later for the release of their fifth and final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled (2004), which spawned the international hits "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier (feat. T.I. & Lil' Wayne)". Since the group's official disbandment in 2006, Knowles, Rowland and Williams have reunited several times, including at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and 2018 Coachella festival.
Destiny's Child has sold more than sixty million records worldwide to date. Billboard ranks the group as one of the greatest musical trios of all time, the ninth most successful artist/band of the 2000s, placed the group 68th in its All-Time Hot 100 Artists list in 2008 and in December 2016, the magazine ranked them as the 90th most successful dance club artist of all time. The group was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards, winning twice for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and once for Best R&B Song.
Independent Women Part I
Destiny's Child Lyrics

With my girl, Drew (uh-huh, yeah)
Cameron D and Destiny
Charlie's Angels, come on (come on)
Uh, uh, uh (bring it, bring it)
Question, tell me what you think about me
I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings
When it's all over please get up and leave
Question, tell me how you feel about this
Try to control me, boy, you get dismissed
Pay my own car note and I pay my own bills
Always fifty-fifty in relationships
The shoes on my feet, I bought 'em
The clothes I'm wearing, I bought 'em
The rock I'm rockin', I bought it
'Cause I depend on me if I want it
The watch I'm wearin', I bought it
The house I live in, I bought it
The car I'm driving, I bought it
I depend on me, I depend on me
All the women who independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who making money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Tell me how you feel about this
Who would I want if I would wanna live
I worked hard and sacrificed to get what I get
Ladies, it ain't easy being independent
Question, how'd you like this knowledge that I brought?
Bragging on that cash that he gave you is the front
If you're gonna brag, make sure it's your money you flaunt
Depend on no one else to give you what you want
The shoes on my feet, I bought 'em
The clothes I'm wearing, I bought 'em
The rock I'm rockin', I bought it
'Cause I depend on me if I want it
The watch I'm wearin', I bought it
The house I live in, I bought it
The car I'm driving, I bought it
I depend on me, I depend on me
All the women who independent (hey, hey)
Throw your hands up at me (oh)
All the honeys who making money
Throw your hands up at me (throw your hands up a me, baby)
All the mommas who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Destiny's Child, what's up?
You in the house? Sho'nuff
We'll break these people off Angel style
Child of Destiny
Independent beauty
No one else can scare me
Charlie's Angels, oh whoa
All the women who independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who making money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
The lyrics of "Independent Women Part I" celebrate female empowerment and independence. The song was featured on the soundtrack of the 2000 movie "Charlie's Angels," and though the song wasn't originally meant to be an anthem, it became one of the most popular songs of the year. In the first verse, Destiny's Child members Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams name-check Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, and Drew Barrymore, who played the "Angels" in the film.
The chorus emphasizes the power of financially independent women, urging them to throw their hands up in recognition of their success. The lyrics also criticize men who try to control or limit women, with lines like "Try to control me, boy, you get dismissed" and "Depend on no one else to give you what you want." In essence, the song champions fierce independence in all areas of life, from relationships to earning power.
