In early 2000, both Roberson and Luckett were replaced with Williams and Farrah Franklin; however, Franklin quit after five months, leaving the group as a trio. Their third album, Survivor (2001), whose themes the public interpreted as a channel to the group's experience, produced the worldwide hits "Independent Women", "Survivor" and "Bootylicious. In 2001, they announced a hiatus to pursue solo careers. The trio reunited three years later for the release of their fifth and final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled (2004), which spawned the international hits "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier (feat. T.I. & Lil' Wayne)". Since the group's official disbandment in 2006, Knowles, Rowland and Williams have reunited several times, including at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and 2018 Coachella festival.
Destiny's Child has sold more than sixty million records worldwide to date. Billboard ranks the group as one of the greatest musical trios of all time, the ninth most successful artist/band of the 2000s, placed the group 68th in its All-Time Hot 100 Artists list in 2008 and in December 2016, the magazine ranked them as the 90th most successful dance club artist of all time. The group was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards, winning twice for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and once for Best R&B Song.

Hoping that you're okay
Waiting patiently
For you to come back to me (what should I do?)
I don't mind the waiting
As long as there's still maybe
A possibility
For you to be true to me
I'll be sitting on the stairway
'Til a quarter 'til 2
With nothin' to do baby ay yeah
But twiddle my thumbs and think
Killing time
Waiting on you (baby)
What should I do
I'll be sitting here waiting
Killing time
Waiting on you (baby)
What should I do (baby)
I'll be sitting here waiting
Look inside your mirror
I hope that you see clearer
Look behind yourself
And you will find me (what should I do?)
I've got your back baby
The love I have, I'm saving
I'll be there for you
Just like I said I'll be
I'll be sitting on the stairway
'Til a quarter 'til 3
With nothing to do baby
But twiddle my thumbs and wait
Killing time
Waiting on you (waiting on you)
What should I do (what should I do)
I'll be sitting here waiting
Killing time
Waiting on you (waiting on you)
What should I do (what should I do)
I'll be sitting here waiting
Oh baby, when you come back down
Don't forget the love you found in me
I know that you're gonna take time
Oh, remember I'm by your side
Don't worry, I'm down for you
No matter what you're goin' through
I'll be there, I'll be there
Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby
Killing time
Waiting on you (waiting on you)
What should I do (what should I do)
I'll be sitting here waiting
Killing time (killing time )
Waiting on you (waiting on you)
What should I do (what should I do)
I'll be sitting here waiting
Killing time
Waiting on you (killing time)
What should I do (oh baby baby baby)
I'll be sitting here waiting (I'll be staring at the wall)
Killing time ('cause I'll be)
Waiting on you (I'll be)
What should I do (what I want should I do)
I'll be sitting here waiting (I'll be waiting)
Killing time
Waiting on you (I'm lookin' at my watch)
Killing time (killing time)
Waiting on you (waiting ooh, ooh)
Killing time, killing time
The song "Killing Time" by Destiny's Child is about a woman who is waiting for her lover to come back to her. The character in the song is sitting on the stairway, hoping that her lover is doing okay and waiting patiently for him to come back to her. Despite the waiting, she is okay as long as there is a possibility of the lover being true to her. The character has no trouble waiting and is willing to wait for as long as it takes to prove the lover's loyalty. The title, "Killing Time," suggests that waiting can feel like a waste of time, but the character is convinced that waiting for someone she loves is worth the effort.
The chorus of the song mentions the title and repeats the phrase "Waiting on you" which underlines the character's longing for her lover. In the second verse, the character urges her lover to see her love for him clearly, and promises to be there for him. The bridge reassures her lover, encouraging him to take his time with whatever he is dealing with in life because she will always be by his side.
Overall, "Killing Time" is a simple love song that expresses the character's willingness to wait for her lover because she believes in the possibility of a meaningful connection.
