In early 2000, both Roberson and Luckett were replaced with Williams and Farrah Franklin; however, Franklin quit after five months, leaving the group as a trio. Their third album, Survivor (2001), whose themes the public interpreted as a channel to the group's experience, produced the worldwide hits "Independent Women", "Survivor" and "Bootylicious. In 2001, they announced a hiatus to pursue solo careers. The trio reunited three years later for the release of their fifth and final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled (2004), which spawned the international hits "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier (feat. T.I. & Lil' Wayne)". Since the group's official disbandment in 2006, Knowles, Rowland and Williams have reunited several times, including at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and 2018 Coachella festival.
Destiny's Child has sold more than sixty million records worldwide to date. Billboard ranks the group as one of the greatest musical trios of all time, the ninth most successful artist/band of the 2000s, placed the group 68th in its All-Time Hot 100 Artists list in 2008 and in December 2016, the magazine ranked them as the 90th most successful dance club artist of all time. The group was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards, winning twice for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and once for Best R&B Song.

Ohh, oh ohh
Ohh
Caramel complexion
With the sexiest expression
Curly hair and cornrows
Very nice physique in his good clothes
He asked me what I was thinking
Because he walked so beautiful
I didn't know what to say to him
He was what I wanted
Exactly what I needed
He was what I fantasized
He was what I dreamed and
It would be so perfect
If him and me was we
Why couldn't I just tell him my feelings?
We was meant to be
I spotted him walking in the doorway
Of the restaurant the other day
When I met that perfect man
I didn't speak when I had the chance
I didn't know exactly what to say
At the restaurant the other day
When I met that perfect man
I didn't speak when I had the chance
Sexy lips, platinum wrists
Hands looks like he gets manicured
I can't resist those eyes of his
Staring at his lips, diamond in his ears
And his voice is hypnotizing
And his hand was tantalizing
I dismissed the dire wish
Without me realizing
He was what I wanted
Exactly what I needed
He was what I fantasized
He was what I dreamed and
It would be so perfect
If him and me was we
Why couldn't I just tell him my feelings?
We was meant to be
I spotted him walking in the doorway
Of the restaurant the other day
When I met that perfect man

I didn't speak when I had the chance
I didn't know exactly what to say
At the restaurant the other day
When I met that perfect man
I didn't speak when I had the chance
All you ladies listening if you ever have the chance
To run into your definition of that perfect man
Don't be blinded by how fine the man is
And miss the chance that might be your last
Make him understand that he's your perfect man

The lyrics of Destiny's Child's "Perfect Man" describe a missed opportunity with the man of the singer's dreams. She describes his physical attributes, including his caramel complexion, curly hair, and very nice physique in nice clothes. She is mesmerized by him, unable to speak or express her feelings when they meet in a restaurant. She fantasizes about being with him, imagining that he is exactly what she needs and what she wants. She laments not taking the opportunity to tell him how she feels, and encourages other women not to make the same mistake.
The song is a common theme in popular music – a missed opportunity, a lost love or the regret of not saying how you feel when you have the chance. The concept is relatable and speaks to the human experience, particularly when it comes to romantic relationships. The lyrics convey the pain of not telling someone how you feel, leading to missed opportunities and heartache. The song is delivered with harmonizing vocals, and the instrumental backing is modern R&B with a hint of hip hop.
