Love Song
Destiny Potato Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't define what a feeling
I'm lost for words
You don't see my heart bleeding
I can't stand it no more

You screamed, I laughed, and you break down
You say I'm mad
You know it's more than a game now
Maybe it's all in your head

Don't you know what I mean?
Is it possible?
Can we lose it all?
Cause you saw the worst in me
And I know
That I'll never let you go

I know, you know, yeah we both know
How this will end
Open you mouth, say you hate me
There's no need to pretend

Don't you know what I mean?
Is it possible?
Can we lose it all?
Cause you saw the worst in me
And I know
That I'll never let you go

Screw you, fuck you, mmmm, I hate you
This time for real
I simply want to forget you
This beaten heart needs time to heal

Don't you know what I mean?
Is it possible?
Can we lose it all?
Cause you saw the worst in me

And I know
That I'll never let you go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Destiny Potato's Love Song depict a rocky relationship between two people who seem to have fallen out of love. The singer is struggling to put her emotions into words, unable to define the exact feeling she has for her partner. Despite this, her partner does not seem to notice the pain that she is hiding underneath her tough exterior. The two of them are clashing, with the singer laughing while her partner screams and breaks down. Despite this game that they are playing, there is an underlying tension and a feeling that this relationship has become more serious than either could have imagined.

The chorus of the song focuses on the fear of losing it all, even if the worst has already been revealed to the other person. There is a sense of desperation as the singer does not want to let go of this person, no matter what. However, the song ends with a complete turnaround, with the singer using profane language to convey her anger towards her partner. She wants to move on and forget this person but acknowledges that her heart needs time to heal. Overall, the lyrics of Love Song paint a complex picture of a relationship that may be past its expiry date but with a strong desire to hold on nonetheless.

You know how rare it is these days to have an album that is so fucking solid from front to back?

Aleksandra Djelmash is so talented as a singer, it's crazy. And that's saying nothing to the brilliant guitarists and drummer.

I'm very sorry I only heard about this band almost 6 years later.

Where was their advertising?

In any event, I'm just so glad I have the privilege of enjoying this album which is an entire piece of beautiful art.

I've been listening to this album off and on for over 6 months, and I still can't get over how well it is composed and performed.

Solid work you guys. Really a masterpiece of an album.

This song is absolutely perfect. It is unique. A severely underrated sonic gem of rare craft and thought.

Every time i hear this song, i wonder why there's not more music by this mind blowing project out there.

I would say that it is probably one of, if not THE greatest Break-up song ever written. It traverses chaotic heavy ground with solid creative hooks EVERYWHERE. How can a major key sound incredibly eviscerating and vindictive? Well here is the answer.

Its like every movement of this song was painstakingly crafted to move through a toxic relationship. It offers the musical time to grieve and be reflective. Using a bass solo, of all things... When the last chorus comes back around, its acknowledging the pain is real.... but it becomes about getting beyond it. Acknowledging the pain of the inner childs disappointment but its time ti grow up, move on and heal.

You do not hear songs with such attention to detail to imbibe every movement with this level of depth. The song was meticulously crafted like an analog watch.

And did i mention it has a bass solo in the middle of the song? Like a good one?

I wish more groups would take the time to up the craftsmanship of their offerings beyond pop formulas, the way this band did. This song takes tired tropes and lyrical cliches of rock and metal, and deconstructs them to Freudian depths. It tears them to pieces, before reassembling them into a chaotic, beautiful mosaic. This song is an underappreciated masterpiece.

My boyfriend started playing this in the car and the first lines of the song I legit thought it was Glados singing. Needless to say, I am now in love with this group.

Thank you Spotify for putting this band on my discovery list. Love the heavy progressive tech vibe. The singers friggin amazing! Not a lot of chic metal singers use their natural high range voice these days. Love the weird band name and strange comedy lyrics in some songs, Frank Zappa would be proud. Love the time changes, this band is very original. They band could be pretty successful if they stick with it. I noticed they already have more monthly listeners on Spotify then some older more established bands.

Literally listened to this song about 50-60 times the past 3 days. I get serious goosebumps and a lump in my throat when that Bilo reprise happens in the middle.

This is how female-fronted metal needs to be
