Biography
Inspired by Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Motörhead and Venom, Destruction were formed as Knight of Demon in 1982. The original line-up featured vocalist and bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer, drummer Tommy Sandmann, and guitarist Mike Sifringer. They soon changed their name to Destruction and released a demo titled Bestial Invasion of Hell in 1984. After this the group signed with Steamhammer Records and released an EP titled Sentence of Death later that year.
Destruction released their first full-length album titled Infernal Overkill in 1985, followed by Eternal Devastation in 1986. The trio then added a second guitarist, Harry Wilkens, and released the EP Mad Butcher in 1987, followed by the full-length album Release from Agony (also released in 1987), then a live recording Live Without Sense in 1989, and Cracked Brain in 1990. In 1989, Schmier left the band and Mike Sifringer continued to release albums under the moniker of "Neo-Destruction".
In 1999, Schmier rejoined, and things began to look up for the band as they signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast. They then released three more albums: All Hell Breaks Loose in 2000, The Antichrist in 2001, and Metal Discharge in 2003. The band would then sign with AFM Records and release Inventor of Evil in 2005. That album was followed two years later by the compilation of re-recorded songs Thrash Anthems (2007), and then a year later by D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. (2008). In February 2011, Destruction released Day of Reckoning.
A European tour with Overkill was scheduled for March 2011. Headlining dates in South America and North America were being planned for April and May.
The band's thirteenth studio album, Spiritual Genocide, was released in November 23, 2012. Their next album, Under Attack, was released on May 13, 2016.

Made To Be Broken
Destruction Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's not right? You're never to see the momentum to be
I'm alive - how do you thrive
The curse of the system has to end
Through my eyes
You will come to believe
That somebody is near to release (and to fight)
To save your light to lose your vice
Where is your destination?
Any hesitation?
Soon you'll lose some control
Hatred and pounding craving for nothing
Soon you will damn you mere soul
Made to be broken - you will never foresee
Made to be broken - you're never gonna be
Made to be broken - like he broken glass of your soul
Made to be broken - like your fucked up one man show
The system needs to wipe ou the thinking and loving
For a cruel world
Empty minds have frozen out your soul and free will
Since your birth
So the days went by and you changed
To much for me can't you see
I wonder why, you are rotten to the core
Are you free?
The lyrics to Destruction's song "Made To Be Broken" touch on the themes of the curse of the system, the suffering from sins and fear, and the feeling of being made to break. The first stanza addresses the fate of one's life and the inability to see or find momentum. The singer then reflects on being alive and questions how others are thriving. The second stanza calls for an end to the curse of the system and through the singer's eyes, someone can come to believe, fight and release themselves from their suffering of sins and fear. The chorus repeats the phrase "Made to be broken," which symbolizes the feeling of being trapped and doomed to fail.
The lyrics suggest that the system needs to change and wipe out thinking and loving for a cruel world. Empty minds have frozen out souls and free will since birth. The song implies that there is something wrong with the way people live their lives and that they need to break free from the constraints of society. The singer suggests that the person they sing to has changed and has become rotten to the core. The singer wonders if this person is free, implying that they may feel trapped.
The lyrics of "Made To Be Broken" are provocative and intense, and they challenge listeners to consider the value of individuality and the danger of conformity. The song encourages listeners to break free from the constraints that society places on them and to live life on their terms.
