A Part of Me
Device Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What seems to be on your mind?
Creature from the other side
Keeper of the weak and benign
(You won't get it, you don't get it)
You see through demented eyes
The very being you once despised
Hell bent on controlling
The precious pieces held in new light

Can you feel reality rushing in?
Can you feel reality's crush again?

You want a part of me?
How 'bout the part of me that doesn't give a shit
You want a part of me
You're not the only one this time

It seems that your lust is blind
You make way for the goal in sight
Searching for another new high
(You won't get it, you don't get it)
Enthralled by a new device
You're a prisoner of your vice
You won't be controlling
Your new obsession pays you no mind

Can you feel reality rushing in?
Can you feel reality's crush again?

You want a part of me?
How 'bout the part of me that doesn't give a shit
You want a part of me
You're not the only one this time
You'll be the lonely one this time

And for a moment I
Felt like your suffering was enough
To let it go, but I
Delight in watching you fuck it up

You want a part of me?
How 'bout the part of me that doesn't give a shit

You want a part of me
You're not the only one this time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Device's song A Part Of Me revolve around the idea of addiction and how it can take control of an individual's life. The first few lines suggest that there is a dark presence lurking in the mind of the individual, a "creature from the other side", who feeds on their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. This being is portrayed as having a twisted perception of reality and is determined to dominate and manipulate the individual. The lyrics suggest that the individual is fighting to regain control but is struggling to break free from the grip of their addiction.

The chorus highlights the idea of the individual being torn between their desire to be free from the addiction and the lure of the high that it provides. They are aware that their addiction is destructive and is causing them to lose sight of what really matters, yet they are unable to resist its pull. The lyrics suggest that the individual is aware of the consequences of their actions but is unable to stop themselves from giving in to their desires.

The ending of the song suggests a sense of resignation and acceptance of the fact that the addiction has taken control. The last few lines highlight the idea of the individual reveling in the downfall of their addiction, and possibly even finding satisfaction in watching it destroy them.

@X3nonEyez

Now this one is Disturbed-sounding and it's still badass as all hell :D

@JormungandrTheWorldSerpent

Are you trying to say that Disturbed doesnt sound badass? if thats the case we have an issue. If its not the case and you think disturbed is awesome than you have a great taste in music and should try Volbeat. They are better than both disturbed and Device.

@X3nonEyez

Jesse Pinkman No that's not what I'm saying..... What I'm saying is that it sounded like Disturbed and still kept that awesome sound Disturbed has
