The Darkness
Dharohar Project Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Take my eye
and my whole my heart
in your hands
in your hands

and board the yacht
as it departs
leave me on the shore
but I will hunt no more

Hold my sin above my head
and take me home instead
take me home instead

I will not speak of your sin
there is a way out for him
the mirror shows that
your values are ocean

The door, my heart was floored
I knew my weakness, oh hold,
my hand can sign me not to darkness

you know, my heart was floored

I knew my weakness, oh hold,
my hand can sign me not to darkness

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "To Darkness Kripa" by Dharohar Project ft. Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons are haunting and mysterious, leaving much room for interpretation. The song opens with a request to take the singer's eye and heart, suggesting that they are willing to give up everything to the person they are addressing. The imagery of a yacht departing without them and leaving them on shore creates a sense of abandonment and isolation.

The lines "hold my sin above my head and take me home instead" could be interpreted as a plea for forgiveness and redemption. The singer seems to be acknowledging their sins and asking to be taken in despite them. The following lines, "I will not speak of your sin, there is a way out for him, the mirror shows that your values are ocean" could refer to the person they are addressing, implying that they are also guilty of something but there is a way out for them, possibly because the singer sees that their values are deep and vast like the ocean.

The chorus repeats the lines, "the door, my heart was floored, I knew my weakness, oh hold, my hand can sign me not to darkness," further emphasizing the themes of frailty, vulnerability, and the desire to be saved from darkness or despair. Overall, the lyrics of "To Darkness Kripa" are open to various interpretations, but they all seem to revolve around the idea of surrender, redemption, and hope in the face of darkness.
