1) Di-rect is a Dutch alternative rock band formed in October 1999 in The Hague, The Netherlands. The band consists of singer Marcel Veenendaal, guitarist Frans van Zoest, drummer Jamie Westland, pianist Vince van Reeken and bassplayer Bas van Wageningen.
The band started in 1999 when 15 year old Jamie Westland (drums) asked his father Dick to help him set up a band. Three other teenagers joined him which are Tim Akkerman (vocals), Frans 'Spike' van Zoest (guitar and background vocals) and Bas van Wageningen (bass). The singer, Tim Akkerman was just 19, the guitar player and the drummer were only 15 years old at that time.
Within a few months Di-rect had completed a five track demo which included the song "Just the Way I Do". 3FM radio DJ Rob Stenders saw them play live and was impressed by them. He played a song from their demo on national radio. This generated considerable interest by record companies. Two months later Di-rect signed with Dino Music/EMI. In the year 2002, they played on every big festival in Holland and their debut album "Discover" came out.
Over the next few years, Di-rect released various albums. In 2003, they released "Over The Moon", containing the singles "Adrenaline", "She" and "Rollercoaster". Two years later, they released a new album called "All Systems Go!". After releasing this album, Di-rect joined the MTV-program "RoadRally". After this show, the band almost broke up, but in 2007 they released their 4th album (nameless). The latest album is a live-album, recored in Diligentia in The Hague.
In 2008 and 2009, Di-rect toured with their new show named "Di-rect doet Tommy", a Dutch cover of the rock opera, written by Pete Townshend.
On March 12th, 2009, Tim Akkerman announced to quit the band, his last performance was at April 10th, 2009 in the Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam, also being the last performance of Tommy.
In the programme Wie Is Di-rect, Di-rect searched for a new singer, and they found him! Marcel Veenendaal is the name of the new singer of Di-rect

hey you listen what I learn
I wanna tell you what I feel
I live in a world without fears
say you never get hurt
here I am here I stand again
here I am little superman
I wanna tell what I've seen
I'm glad I treat your life, you're safe of hurt
time saw changes you won't say
but now their summerfields appear)
here I am here I stand again
here I am little superman
But did you hear me
I won't die
We all say'
I get down
To stay in line
I'm like a super superman
here I am here I stand again
here I am little superman
The song Superman by Di-rect is a highly empowering and uplifting song that speaks to listeners about living fearlessly and confidently. The song begins with the singer passionately urging the listener to pay attention to the life lessons he's learned, as he shares his personal feelings about living in a world without fear, where one can never be hurt. He then goes on to explain that he's glad to be making a positive impact on the listener's life and that they are safe from harm.
The chorus is where the song truly takes flight, with the singer exclaiming "here I am, here I stand again, here I am little superman". These lines are quite significant as they reflect the idea of having inner resilience and the determination to stand up no matter what life throws at you. The following section of the song, "But did you hear me, I won't die, we all say, I get down, to stay in line, I'm like a super superman," reinforces this message of strength and invincibility, as the singer declares that nothing can bring him down.
Overall, Superman by Di-rect is a song about overcoming life's challenges with mental and emotional strength. It speaks to the inner superhero in each of us and encourages us to embrace our full potential.

This is a nice looking Superman figure. I like the head sculpt. I also like the cape even though it curves the way that it does. It makes when you think about it. Superman comes with a flight stand and you are going to have him in a flight pose. It wouldn't make sense for the cape to be flowing straight down. The pose that you put Superman in at the end of the video works well with the curved nature of the cape. That's just my own personal opinion though. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot for another wonderful video! I really appreciate the continued hard work! Keep it up! God bless and stay safe!

Agreed on the cape thing, pretty much any Mcfarlane figure I get that has a cape I’ll end up going to my local craft store and making a wired cloth or pleather cape for them instead of the plastic ones.

i love the cape. on the flight stand move the curve in the lower half of the cape around his right knee so the bottom of the cape is poking out the front. adds a ton of dimension. Spot on on the Aeon Flux. though i believe it's supposed to be inspired by Lee Bermejo.

This version looks to be inspired by the Superman from the Superman, Shazam vs Black Adam cartoon from a few years ago. Coloring of the suit and face looks so similar.

I was so close to getting this figure a few days ago but noticed the massive oversized hands and decided against it, only really looking for figures that will fit in well with NECA figures and decided this was is just slightly too cartoony (especially with those hands) to work.
Ended up ordering the Red Son Superman instead and a few other Mcfarlane figs (If for whatever reason anyones interested got it coming with the Mega fig Bane, Tac Suit Batman, Black Adam Dr Fate, Eredin and Geralt) so hopefully after a little customising they all look good mixed in with my current NECA collection.

The cape is not the great, but overall is a good figure.
