Diablo took a strong place in the Finnish metal music scene with these two albums.
The expectations for the third album increased to a high level when the release date got closer. The hype around the band was enormous. And just before the third album´s release, Finnish most popular music show "Levyraati" broadcasted their brand new video of the song Read My Scars, also released as a single (staying nine weeks on the single chart, topping at number three). Behind that shroud of mystery
Searching for the truth
Searching for some signs of divinity
Presentation of souls
So much suffering
The truth cannot be found
Withoun facing reality
Unable to communicate
Suffering from the life which was
Burnt at the stake f vanity
Presentation of souls
So much suffering
The truth cannot be found
Withoun facing reality
Behold those creatures of deception
We have become so weak
Cynic
So insecure
Now we cannot even see
What is behind this heresy
The lyrics of Diablo's song Creatures of Deception convey a sense of disillusionment and loss of faith in humanity. The first stanza describes the search for truth, and the realization that it cannot be found without facing reality. The presentation of souls and the suffering that comes with it is highlighted as evidence of this. The second stanza speaks to the current state of being lost in a maze, unable to communicate and suffering from the vain pursuit of life. The chorus challenges the listener to behold the creatures of deception which have weakened and made cynical an insecure humanity, unable to see beyond the heresy.
The song conjures up a dark and eerie atmosphere with evocative lyrics and heavy riffs. It is reminiscent of the gothic metal genre popularized in the late 90s and early 2000s. The chorus is especially haunting as it emphasizes the loss of direction and a society that has become cynical and insecure. The somber tune is interspersed with bursts of powerful vocals and guitar riffs, which work effectively in conveying the sense of despair and disillusionment.
