The expectations for the third album increased to a high level when the release date got closer. The hype around the band was enormous. And just before the third album´s release, Finnish most popular music show "Levyraati" broadcasted their brand new video of the song Read My Scars, also released as a single (staying nine weeks on the single chart, topping at number three). Diablo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Through your soul, through severity
But I'm afraid of knowing
When kind of a sight
When kind of a message I will find
My crusade is doomed to fail
But I still carry on
I'm frozen inside
I know that I can get lost on this
Left hand side of the path
As you can see
My time is running short
In resisting the decaying of my soul
My crusade is doomed to fail
But I still carry on
Like father like son
I'm frozen inside
I begin to see
When my role will be
In this Tunnel of Pain
The lyrics of Diablo's "Tunnel of Pain" are reflective and introspective. The singer is grappling with the desire to understand someone on a deeper level, to see through their soul and their flaws, yet is afraid of what they might find. Despite this fear, the singer continues on a crusade, even if it may be futile. The line "Like father like son" suggests that this crusade may have been passed down from previous generations and is a difficult habit to break. The singer is emotionally entrenched in this journey, frozen inside, not knowing what they will discover during the process.
As the singer continues on this journey, they acknowledge the risk of getting lost on a darker path. They feel like their time is running short in resisting the decay of their soul. The tunnel of pain is a metaphor for this path, through which the singer must travel to find clarity and purpose. The final lines suggest that the singer is beginning to understand their role in this journey and what they must do to move forward.
Overall, the song is a reflection on the struggle of self-discovery, the fear of what we might find and the inevitability of change. Despite the difficulty of the journey, the singer is committed to continuing on their crusade, determined to find answers even if it may not lead to success.
