Featuring members of Trapped Under Ice, Terror, and Down to Nothing, Diamond Youth started writing in early 2010, with the release of an ambitious demo shortly thereafter. In collaboration with Photobooth Records, DIAMOND YOUTH’s first vinyl offering serves up five fresh songs of catchy pop/rock tunes not unlike contemporaries Jimmy Eat World or Weezer, not to mention 90’s predecessors such as Samiam or Nada Surf. All influences aside, the band has a very distinctive sound that’s guranteed to leave you humming for days. The lyrics of Diamond Youth's song "Cannonball" reflect the uncertainty and confusion that come with pursuing one's passions. The singer is in a maze, searching for something they have already found but cannot seem to escape from. They refuse to feel as though they have accomplished their goals until they are six feet under, and the anticipation of success pushes them forward.

As the song progresses, the singer becomes more confident, declaring that they will break down barriers and take risks in order to achieve their dreams. Despite the judgment of others, they shine bright and refuse to be contained. The last stanza contains a message of empowerment that speaks to anyone who has ever felt trapped or suffocated by their own ambitions - live in the moment, make it count, and chase your dreams.
