Can't Do Without You
Diana King Lyrics

Long time no see
Still remember your face
'Cause I see it in my dreams
Boy you're looking good
But then you always did
Who's the chick with the pretty face
Don't tell me you want us to be friends
That's something I just can't do
Boyfriend I'm sorry, forgive me
I got plans for you
I don't like your new gal friend
'Cause she's standing in the place
Where I should have been
I don't like your new gal friend
She's messing with my head
She's sleeping in my bed
See I had it all worked out
To get you back as my man
To have her in my way
Wasn't part of the plan
What is this I see
A new shinning diamond ring
Are you sure she has no secrets
'Cause I've heard so many things
Was it so easy to leave me
And find somebody new
You'll be sorry, without me
She's no good for you
I don't like your new gal friend
'Cause she's standing in the place
Where I should have been
I don't like your new gal friend
She's messing with my head
She's sleeping in my bed
I don't like your new gal friend
And I don't think that you should
Ever see her again
I don't like your new gal friend
She's messing up my plan
She's fucking with my man
In Diana King's song "Can't Do Without You," the lyrics explore the emotions and thoughts of a woman who sees her ex-partner with a new partner. The lyrics start by greetings and reminisces about their past together. It's then revealed that the man now has a new girlfriend, who is pretty, but the woman can't stand her being in the place where she should have been. She is worried that he left her so easily for someone new and is concerned that the new girlfriend might have secrets. Throughout the song, the lyrics express the idea that the new girlfriend is a threat to what the woman had planned for her ex-partner and herself.
The overall tone of the song is one of desperation, with the woman making it clear that she can't do without the man and doesn't like the new girlfriend. The lyrics also suggest that the woman feels betrayed by the man for leaving her for someone new. The chorus emphasizes this, with the line "I don't like your new gal friend" being repeated.
