In 1997, their album Think Like a Girl entered Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart at No.1. They also reached's Hot 100's top 40 with their cover version of the song "I Say a Little Prayer", which was featured in the soundtrack to the film My Best Friend's Wedding. They were also featured on the 1997 soundtrack to the documentary When We Were Kings, where they performed a duet of the same title with Brian McKnight. In 1998 they joined Celine Dion and Brownstone on stage to perform their hit "Treat Her Like A Lady" at the Essence Awards, in which they received a standing ovation. That year they also appeared on Soul Train, The RuPaul Show, and VIBE to promote Think Like a Girl.
By the new millennium, King was in negotiations with Madonna's Maverick label. In 2002 King released their third album Respect, it became a hit overseas, but was never released in the US, despite its first single "Summer Breezin'" receiving BET and VH1 video and radio airplay.

They also had the girl duo Brick & Lace join them on one of their concerts as backup singers. Later that year, they formed their own record label, ThinkLikeAgirl. They also tour Asia annually.
In 2010, King's record label ThinkLikeAgirL Music Inc. went through a licensing deal with Warner Music Japan with the release of their fourth album, Warrior Gurl. In Diana King's song "L-L-Lies," the singer is confronting their partner about lying to them. The repetition of "oh why" and "l-l-l-lies" emphasize the disbelief and hurt the singer feels over their partner's deception. The use of stuttering when saying "never t-t-t-t-t think" and "re-a-li-a-li-a-lize" conveys the singer's struggle to comprehend how their partner could be deceitful. They express that the things their partner says will ultimately make them "fade away" and bid them goodbye.
The verses depict specific instances where the partner has lied - once in a club with another woman and once in the afternoon with untrue claims. The repetition of "step one, step two, step three" emphasizes the different stages of realization the singer went through, from sensing something was off to witnessing it firsthand to finally taking action and ending things. The repetition of "why you play those games" further expresses the singer's frustration and anger towards their partner's actions.
