I'm feeling sad and blue
You went away
Now my love is just a rainy day
I love you so
How much you'll never know
You've gone away and left me lonely
Seemed to keep haunting me
Of love so true
That once turned all my gray skies blue
But you disappeared
Now my eyes are filled with tears
I'm wishin' you were here with me
Soft with love are my thoughts of you
Now that you're gone
I don't know what to do
If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears
The sun would shine
And once again you'll be mine all mine
But in reality
Your love will never be
'Cause you took your love away from me
Hoooo-ooooh-ooooh
Ue wo muite arukou
Namida ga koborenai you ni
Omoidasu haru no hi hitori bocchi no yoru
Ue wo muite arukou
Nijinda hoshi wo kazoete
Omoidasu natsu no hi hitori bocchi no yoru
If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears
The sun would shine
And once again you'll be mine all mine
But in reality
Your love will never be
'Cause you took your love away from me
Hoooo-ooooh, baby
You took your love away from me
If only you were here
The lyrics of the song "Sukiyaki" by Diana King are about heartbreak and the aftermath of a failed relationship. The singer is feeling sad and blue because her lover has gone away, leaving her alone on a rainy day. She confesses her love to her ex and how much she misses them, but the memories of their love seem to be haunting her. The singer is wishing her lover was here to wash her tears away and bring back the sunshine in her life, but she knows that it is just a dream because reality is different. The song is a remake of a 1961 Japanese pop song called "Ue o Muite Arukou" ("I Look Up As I Walk") which was written in the aftermath of the devastating World War II.
