I'm Thru With Love

I'll never fall again
Said "Adieu" to love
Don't ever call again
For I must have you
Or no one
And so I'm through with love
I'll keep my feelings there
I have stocked my heart
With icy frigid air
And I need to care for no one
And so I'm through with love
Why did you leave me
To think that you could cared?
You didn't need me
For you have your share
Of slaves around you
To hound you and swear
With deep emotion
Devotion to you
Goodbye to spring
And all it meant to me
It can never bring
The things that used to be
For I must have you or no one
And so I'm through with love
Why did you leave me
To think that you could cared?
You didn't need me
For you have your share
Of slaves around you
To hound you and swear
With deep emotion
Devotion to you
Goodbye to spring
And all it meant to me
It can never bring
The things that used to be
For I'm through with love, I'm through with love
But every time I fall in love
Something always happen to me
That's why I'm through with love
The lyrics of Diana Krall's I'm Thru With Love suggest a narrator who has given up on love after experiencing heartbreak. They repeat the phrase "I'm through with love" multiple times throughout the song, emphasizing their conviction. The singer explains that they must have the person they love, or no one at all, which is why they have decided to close themselves off to the possibility of love altogether. They have "locked their heart" and filled it with "icy frigid air" to prevent themselves from falling in love again.
The singer also expresses frustration with the person who hurt them, wondering why they pretended to care and why they left them. The person who hurt them seems to have had many other people vying for their attention, and the singer refers to them as having "slaves around you." The singer says goodbye to the happiness and hopefulness of spring, suggesting that their heart has become cold and dead like winter.
Overall, the song depicts a person who has experienced heartbreak and decided to give up on love altogether. They have closed themselves off and filled their heart with bitterness, perhaps in an effort to protect themselves from being hurt again.
