Diana Krall Lyrics

Sleeping in the rain
Far from home
Half a child
Half a hero
Tossed by the times
Caught in the winds
Dream, lonesome soldier
Dream of home
Someone's son
Someone's lover
Dream that your someday child
Never knows the rain
The lyrics to Diana Krall's song Soldier in the Rain describe the experience of a young soldier, far from home and caught in the midst of a tumultuous time. The soldier is depicted as both a child and a hero, struggling to find his place in the world and overcome the hardships that he faces. The rain serves as a motif throughout the song, representing the soldier's weariness and isolation, as well as his desire for a better life.
The song is ultimately a call to dream, to imagine a brighter future and a world without war or suffering. The soldier is encouraged to think of himself not just as a soldier, but also as someone's son and lover, and to imagine a future where his own child will never have to experience the same hardships that he has endured.
The lyrics to Soldier in the Rain offer a poignant and insightful look into the experience of young soldiers, and the toll that war can take on both the body and soul.

OMG This has to be the most beautiful, heart-wrenching song of all time. I give Diane Krall a LOT of credit for bringing this back from the days of Jackie Gleason and the movie where they ruined it on DVD, Thank you so much Diana. You are priceless to us.

P.F, I concur with the vocal beautification of this cover of Soldier in the Rain. Best version ever performed. Diana Krall is a Master Vocalist and Master Pianist. May the " Great I Am " , blessed all the years of her healthy , lenghty life......

Another melody of melancholy from Henry Mancini that like" Moon River," has haunted me for decades. And the lyric from Alan and Marilyn Bergman evokes so many feelings, so many images. Dave Grusin's arrangement and Diana's singing do grand justice to their work. And so, the haunting continues.

" Freedom isn't free. ". It's always Veterans Day. To those who have served , regardless of scenerio. Diana Krall hauntingly allows us to for a moment feel what some on watch/duty endured. To the Warriors whom did and are doing what they had and have to do so that while we sleep in our beds without concern are secure. Godspeed.
