In 1959, Ross was brought to the attention of Milton Jenkins, the manager of the local doo-wop group The Primes, by Mary Wilson. Primes member Paul Williams convinced Jenkins to enlist Ross in the sister group The Primettes, which included Wilson, Florence Ballard and Betty McGlown.
In 1976, Billboard magazine named her the female entertainer of the century. In 1993, The Guinness Book Of World Records listed her as the most successful female artist ever (the title is now attributed to Madonna), partly due to her combined total of eighteen number-one singles, six of them recorded solo and the remaining dozen from her work with the Supremes.
Ross was also one of the few pop singers to find modest success in the acting world winning an Academy Award nomination for her role as Billie Holiday in the 1972 film, "Lady Sings the Blues" as well as having hits with other film roles such as "Mahogany", "Out of Darkness" and "Double Platinum", not to mention her role in "The Wiz".
Ross has been awarded many lifetime achievement accolades from many organizations and media outlets: she has been featured on BET, Soul Train, and awarded multiple times at the NAACP Image Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007 and given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement in 2011.
Ross' professional vocal collaborators have included the following during her career: Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Julio Iglesias, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Smokey Robinson, among many others.
Amazing Grace
Diana Ross Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind
But now i see
Dissolve like snow
The sun forget to shine
But god who brought me here below
Will be forever mine
Through him many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
'Twas grace that brought me here thus far
And grace will lead me home
The opening lines of Diana Ross's "Amazing Grace" are a hymn of gratitude and a soulful appreciation for the profound impact of grace. The lyrics express how the singer was once lost and blind but found the light of grace, which saved a wretch like them. The depth of the singer's appreciation is reflected in their description of grace as a "sweet sound," which has a transformative impact on their life. The idea of being saved by grace is a notion central to Christianity, where grace is believed to be a gift from God that is freely given, unmerited and undeserved.
The lyrics go on to describe the singer’s faith in God, a faith that even transcends the fragility of the earth itself, which will soon dissolve like snow. The concept of a higher power that endures through the ages is evident in the closing lines, where the singer professes their faith in God as the one who will be forever theirs. Throughout the song, there is a sense of struggle and adversity that the singer has overcome, and it’s all thanks to the grace bestowed upon them. The final lines of the song are a testament to the faith of the singer, and that they will continue to be led home by grace.

Amazing grace
Astonishing and remarkable kindness and mercy
How sweet the sound
The sound that brings joy and peace
That saved a wretch like me
That rescued me from my miserable state
I once was lost
In the past, I was wandering, uncertain and confused
But now I'm found
But now, I'm discovered, secured, and safe
Was blind
Once sightless, ignorant and unaware
But now I see
But now I have clarity, comprehension, and vision
The earth shall soon
The world and everything in it will inevitably
Dissolve like snow
Fade or pass away as snow melts
The sun forget to shine
The sun will not shine anymore
But god who brought me here below
But the higher power who led me to this moment
Will be forever mine
Will be eternally connected to me
Through him many dangers, toils and snares
With the help of the higher power, I've overcome countless challenges, struggles, and traps
'Twas grace that brought me here thus far
It was kindness and mercy that brought me to this point in my journey
And grace will lead me home
And kindness and mercy will guide me back to where I belong

“Jeremiah 3:14-16
King James Version
14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:”. What cause for hope, God is married to the backslider!

I mean it depends on what the "sin" is right? If it's something horrible and criminal, please stop hiding behind the idea of a forgiving god and get your act together and stop hurting people around you. If it's something less bad, you just go ahead and continue your "I sin but I'll try harder next time" song and dance.

It’s one thing to sing Amazing Grace, it’s another to experience it. May the amazing grace of the indwelling Spirit of God rest upon us as we experience God’s love that passes all human attainments and understanding in Jesus’ name! Amen.
