Now That There's You
Diana Ross Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now that there's you
I can get up in the morning
Look down the lonesome road
Know that I have the strength to carry on
Now that there's you
Love abides in my soul
I have a purpose, I have a goal
I can reach out and touch the star
Yesterday it seemed so far
Now that there's you, oh you

No matter the trial
I'll get by 'cause I know there's an answer
Somewhere in your smile
Now that there's you

I can reach that mountain top
'Til I get there I won't stop
I've a new sense of pride
It makes me do things I never tried
Now that there's you oh, you

I can feel I am real
At last I taste the honey
I'm alive for the first time
And the sun shines over
Now that there's you
Hey, you

Oh oh oh oh
I see all the colours the world was supposed to be
And now a robin sings and I know there's spring
Now that there's you
Every day I seem to find a new dimension of my mind
I'm no longer a piece of clay
My heart has some buried lungs to say
Now that there's you, oh you

I can feel I am real
At last I taste the honey
I'm alive for the first time
And the sun shines over
Now that there's you

Thank you baby
I feel I am real
At last I taste the honey
I'm alive for the first time
And the sun shines over
Now that there's you

I'm real I'm real
At last I taste the honey
I'm alive for the first time
And the sun shines over
Now that there's you

La la la la la
La la la la la la la
I'm alive for the first time
And the sun shines over
Now that there's you

I'm real I'm real
At last I taste the honey
I'm alive for the first time

And the sun shines over
Now that there's you

DISCOVEGASGUY

Entertainer of the Century ....and a lifetime !

One of my favorite " fillers". I used to listen to this song with the speakers blasting!! Those violins at the end were popping!!!!!! And of course, Miss Diana was MISS DIANA!!!!!!

DISCOVEGASGUY

Another super-duper song from the genius heart and soul of Diana Ross !

ROXYLUCY

Ross and Ashford and Simpson really shot to stardom and fame with their collaborations and Diana sounded her best with them... Ain't No Mountain High Enough, The Boss, many others as well... however as Nic and Valerie said, you can't go wrong when Diana takes hold of a song!

Kenneth Hamlett

I love the endless debates about all the female artists.  To that discussion, I would add one thing.  Diana Ross' unique talent for phrasing and her connection to lyrics and their meaning are, in my opinion, superior to any other singer I have heard -- male or female.  The phrasing of Frank Sinatra is always mentioned by his admirers, and rightfully so.  But, I believe Ms. Ross' phrasing choices, enunciation abilities and her ability to understand and deliver the lyric as as a story told by an artist are unequaled.  I remember seeing Valerie Simpson on a TV show discussing working with Ms. Ross.  Ms. Simpson said "she stands her ground when she thinks she is right -- even when everyone else thinks she is wrong."  But, then she admitted that later, when the recording was finished, released and history -- and she gave it the  fresh attention that time and space allow -- Ms. Ross' choices were invariably the right ones, and so she was right to stand her ground.  Many elements contribute to the making of a great singer.  But, I believe phrasing and giving the song's lyrics meaning and resonance are among the most important, and no one is better at those things than Diana Ross.

@whatigot2say If so, why are you listening to her music? You're jealous of Diana Ross!
