Diana Rouvas has always embraced music as a way of life. At the age of 17, Diana joined the multi ARIA award-winning Tina Arena on backing vocals on a tour of France, where she performed to capacity crowds at the legendary Olympia Hall. Diana has been invited to represent her home of Australia at the Annual Australia Week G’day LA Celebrations held in Los Angeles, and more recently in New York, celebrating US achievements by Australians including Mel Gibson, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Olivia Newton John.
Wielding masterful poetic and soulful integrity, Diana Rouvas is bewitching in live performance mode. This 23 year old singer-songwriter’s sound is home to the tenacity that was the music and recording industries of the 60s and 70s. The time when songs were ‘real’ songs and singers were ‘real’ singers.
Earlier this year, Diana recorded some new material with legendary soul-funk band Rufus (Bobby Watson – bass, Ricky Lawson – drums, Anthony Patler– keyboards/guitar). The tracks were recorded live at Track Records in Studio City, Los Angeles and produced and mixed by LA based Eve Nelson (Chaka Khan).
Thanks to the camera work of Stuart Radford, we have some footage from the session.... Coming soon!~

I Can't Make You Love Me

Turn down the bed
Turn down these voices
Inside my head
Lay down with me
Tell me no lies
Just hold me close
Don't patronize
I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel
Somethin' that it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart
And I will feel the power but you won't
No you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me
When you don't
When you don't
I'll close my eyes
'Cause then I won't see
The love you don't feel
When you're holdin' me
Morning will come
And I'll do what's right
Just give me till then
To give up this fight
And I will give up this fight
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel
Somethin' that it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart
I will feel the power but you won't
No you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me
When you don't
When you don't
The lyrics to "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Diana Rouvas express the heart-wrenching feeling of being in love with someone who doesn't reciprocate the same love back. The song talks about the desperation of wanting to feel loved by someone who cannot provide that feeling. The first few lines talk about trying to silence the voices in your head that remind you of the love that's not returned, and then it goes on to express the desire to just be held by this person, but not with lies or in a patronizing way.
The chorus is the most impactful part of the song as it repeats the phrase, "I can't make you love me if you don't." This line is so powerful because it reveals the reality that love cannot be forced or manipulated. The next line, "You can't make your heart feel somethin' that it won't," emphasizes the point that love cannot be controlled or coerced. The song ends with the admission that the fight to make this person love you will be given up in the morning, but it still hurts to know that love is not returned.
Overall, "I Can't Make You Love Me" is a beautiful and melancholy song that can resonate with anyone who has ever been in love or has experienced unrequited love. It's a reminder that sometimes love just cannot be controlled no matter how much you may desire it.

The only thing wrong with this performance is that I wish it were about 5 minutes longer
@user-bc2jn3gf8g
This is truly the one and only best performance of Australian Voice ever which still sits in my memory as the most heartfelt and perfect version of this song and even, dare I say, better than the original. I cannot believe her mentor/judge (Keith) did not recognise the sheer beauty and perfection of this performance. Thankfully others out here did....and it still lives on. Thank you Diana
