Real
Die Happy Lyrics

What I happened to see that night
A twisted person with money to burn
And an easy woman with a lot to learn
He said
"Hey Baby, watcha doin' tonight"
She said
if the price is right
Oh, if the price is right"
What kid of person has a price?
It takes no conviction
To be walking on the streets
But it's a great decision
If you want to get H.I.V.
I've seen the sin of ages
Come to its demise
Sexual perversion has been
Cut down to size
So many diseases have come to pass
But I've got this feeling
That this one will last
Real...
Real...
It takes a little magic to make it real
The song Real by Die Happy seems to be a commentary on the darker and harsh realities of life, and how something that may seem attractive on the surface can actually be quite twisted and dangerous. The first part of the song talks about a person witnessing something they can hardly believe with their own eyes. They see a man who while having money to burn seems to be a twisted person who enjoys exploiting women who are vulnerable. He approaches a woman, offering her money in exchange for her services, and she without much thought, is ready to comply if the price is right. The singer finds it quite disturbing that someone can put a price on their morality.
The second part, however, gets more intense and starts talking about how it's easy to walk on the streets, but it's always filled with risks; risks that may cause harm to one's well-being. We are reminded that things that seem to be attractive and seductive can be a trap for harmful diseases like H.I.V. The song then points out that despite the many efforts that have been made to reduce sexual perversion and disease, there is still a long way to go. In the end, the song suggests that one needs a little bit of magic to make it real, suggesting perhaps that it requires more than just physical attraction to make a genuine connection.
