As someone who has been through this... This song is perfectly accurate. Anyone who can relate gets it. Sometimes love triangles happen and it's no one's fault perse. It's just life. And as much as you want to stop loving someone, sometimes you can't.
Anyone who want's to debate this with me hasn't lived through it. Life does go on. But that doesn't always mean those involved are happy or satisfied with it.

There's a right way and a wrong way to go about resolving a situation like this, though. I can see you catching feelings for somebody, but if you (or they) are in a committed relationship with somebody else, your own feelings shouldn't come before the due respect to the other partner to the relationship. The song is pretty and dramatic, though. From the perspective of dramatic narrative it is compelling, so long as no matter how genuine the feelings the unfaithful have with one another, they destroy what chance they may have ever had to build something together because they went about starting it the wrong way and did things which made them lose respect for themselves.
